Hangpan Dada
Havildar Hangpan Dada, AC (2 October 1979 – 26 May 2016) was a soldier in the Assam Regiment of the Indian Army. He was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India's highest peacetime military decoration in August 2016. Early life Dada was born in Borduria village, Tirap district, Arunachal Pradesh, India. Dada saved his childhood friend Somhang Lamra from drowning in a river. Military service Dada joined the 3 Para (SF) on 28 October 1997. In 2005, he was transferred to the Assam Regimental Centre, and on 24 January 2008, he joined the 4th battalion, Assam Regiment. He then requested a transfer to 26th Rashtriya Rifles battalion on operations in Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir. Havildar
Havildar or havaldar ( Hindustani: or (Devanagari), (Perso-Arabic)) is a rank in the Indian, Pakistani and Nepalese armies, equivalent to sergeant. It is not used in cavalry units, where the equivalent is daffadar. Like a British sergeant, a havildar wears three rank chevrons. History "Havildar" is a Persian word in origin and means "person in charge", or more loosely "chief", from the Arabic ("charge", "responsibility") and the Persian (dâr, "holder"). Historically, a havildar was a senior commander, being in charge of a fort during the times of the Mughal Empire. Ashok Chakra Award
The Ashoka Chakra (alternative spelling: Ashok Chakra) is India's highest peacetime military decoration awarded for valor, courageous action, or self-sacrifice away from the battlefield. It is the peacetime equivalent of the Param Vir Chakra (PVC) and is awarded for the "most conspicuous bravery or some daring or pre-eminent valour or self-sacrifice" other than in the face of the enemy. The decoration may be awarded either to military or civilian personnel. Naik Narbahadur Thapa, Havildar Bachittar Singh and Flight Lieutenant Suhas Biswas were the first recipients of the Ashoka Chakra. Subsequent awards of the Ashoka Chakra are recognized by a bar to the medal ribbon. A recipient can be awarded the Kirti Chakra or Shaurya Chakra in addition to separate acts of gallantry. Daporijo
Daporijo is a census town in the Upper Subansiri district, Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh in the Northeast of India. Nomenclature Originally Dapo referred to "protection" or "the barrier" against the epidemic or evil spirits while Rijo stood for "the valley". It hosts the headquarters of Upper Subansiri district. Subansiri River
The Subansiri River; is a trans- Himalayan river and a tributary of the Brahmaputra River that flows through Tibet's Lhünzê County, Shannan Prefecture and the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. The Subansiri is long, with a drainage basin . It is the largest tributary of the Brahmaputra contributing 7.92% of the Brahmaputra's total flow. Name and etymology The name is derived from a Sanskrit word ''svarṇa'' (), meaning 'gold'. Originally the name applied to the river only after the confluence of the Chayul Chu and Tsari Chu rivers at Gelensiniak. Pema Khandu
Pema Khandu (born 21 August 1979) is an Indian politician and the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. He is son of former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Dorjee Khandu. Since assuming office of chief minister in July 2016, he and his government have twice changed their party affiliation; in September from the Indian National Congress to the Peoples Party of Arunachal, and then in December 2016 to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Previously he had served as Minister of Tourism, Urban Development and Water Resources in Nabam Tuki's government.
