The Hamburg Sea Devils are an American football team in Hamburg, Germany, that plays in the European League of Football (ELF). History The Hamburg franchise was announced in November 2020, as part of the inaugural season of the European League of Football. In March 2021, ELF announced it has reached an agreement with the NFL, to be able to use the team names from the days of NFL Europe. On the same day, it was announced Hamburg will use the name of the defunct NFL Europe franchise Hamburg Sea Devils. The Sea Devils also introduced their new head coach, former special teams coach for multiple NFL teams, Ted Daisher. However, he ended up being released only 3 weeks into the inaugural season, because of "different views and expectations regarding the philosophy and leadership of our team". The 2021 Hamburg Sea Devils season was the first season of the new Hamburg Sea Devils team in the inaugural season of the European League of Football. After winning the first ever match of the new ELF against Frankfurt Galaxy on a last second Phillip Friis Andersen Field Goal, the team went on to post a 7–3 record, winning their North Division and beating the Wroclaw Panthers in the playoffs before going on to lose the inaugural Championship Game to the Frankfurt Galaxy by a score of 32–30. 2023 Hamburg Sea Devils Season
The 2022 Hamburg Sea Devils season is going to be the second season of the Hamburg Sea Devils team in the European League of Football, the second season with head coach Charles "Yogi" Jones and the first in the new Western Conference, having no games against the rivals Leipzig Kings and Panthers Wrocław. The Sea Devils are looking for the league title after two seasons reaching the championship game without a win. Preseason Shortly after the loss in the Championship Game 2022, the two defensive cornerstones Miguel Book and Kasim Edebali left the organization. Preseason On November 24, 2021, the Hamburg Sea Devils began to announce their first player signings, beginning with their running back Glen Toonga. Ted Daisher (born February 2, 1955) is an American football coach who lastly was head coach of the Hamburg Sea Devils (ELF), of the newly formed ELF, but released on the 6th of June, 2021. Hamburg Sea Devils (NFL Europe)
The Hamburg Sea Devils were an American football team that played in NFL Europe from 2005 to 2007. They played their home games at Hamburg's Volksparkstadion (also home to the German association football team Hamburger SV). They played their first game on 2 April 2005 losing 24–23 to the Cologne Centurions (who were the newest NFL Europe franchise before the Sea Devils). The Sea Devils' first win came in Week 3 of the 2005 season, with a 31–24 home victory over the then-struggling Rhein Fire.
