Ham Ji-hoon
Ham Ji-hoon (born December 11, 1984) is a South Korean professional basketball player. He plays for Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus in the Korean Basketball League and is the club's captain and longest-serving player after Yang Dong-geun. Early life and college career Ham attended Kyungbock High School and played as a forward before being converted into a center at Chung-Ang University. Although his height, at just under 200 cm, is not considered tall for a center even by KBL standards, he stood out for his physicality. Together with fellow seniors future MVP winners Park Sang-oh and Yoon Ho-young and freshman Oh Se-keun, they won the MBC Cup two years in a row, breaking Yonsei University's stranglehold and Ham was named tournament MVP of the 2006 edition. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. MBC Cup
The MBC Cup (Korean: MBC배) is an annual competition organized by the Korea University Basketball Federation (Korean: 한국대학농구연맹) and sponsored by broadcaster Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC). It is one of the oldest basketball competitions in South Korea for college teams and predates the U-League. In Korean-language media, it is known by its full name MBC Cup National University Basketball Championship (Korean: MBC배 전국대학농구대회) to differentiate it from another similarly named competitions for college students in other sports. Prior to the establishment of the professional Korean Basketball League in 1997, basketball was an amateur sport and all senior teams participated in the National Basketball Festival (Korean: 농구대잔치), regardless of whether it was sponsored by the Korea Armed Forces Athletic Corps, corporate companies or universities. Conscription In South Korea
Conscription in South Korea has existed since 1957 and requires male citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 to perform compulsory military service. Women are not required to perform military service, but they may voluntarily join the military. Establishment The basis for military conscription in South Korea is the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, which was promulgated on 17 July 1948. The constitution states in Article 39, "All citizens shall have the duty of national defense under the conditions as prescribed by Act." In addition, the conscription is defined and acted by the "Military Service Act" (병역법). Konglish
Konglish (; ), more formally Korean-style English (; ) is a style of English used by Korean speakers. The name is a portmanteau of the names of the two languages and was first recorded earliest in 1975. Other less common terms are ''Korlish'' (recorded from 1988), ''Korenglish'' (1992), ''Korglish'' (2000) and ''Kinglish'' (2000). The Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus is a professional basketball club in the Korean Basketball League. History Foundation and amateur era Before the professional Korean Basketball League was established in 1997, domestic basketball was an amateur sport and teams were sponsored by corporate companies or private universities. Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus traces its origins to the basketball team sponsored by Kia Motors in 1986. The team was based in Busan where Kia Motors had manufacturing operations.
