The Halle train collision (also known as the Buizingen train collision) was a collision between two National Railway Company of Belgium, NMBS/SNCB passenger trains carrying a combined 250 to 300 people in Buizingen, in the Municipalities of Belgium, municipality of Halle, Belgium, Halle, Flemish Brabant, Belgium, on 15 February 2010. Leuven railway station ( nl, Station Leuven, french: Gare de Louvain), officially Leuven, is the main railway station in Leuven, Flemish Brabant, Belgium. The station is operated by the National Railway Company of Belgium (NMBS/SNCB) and is located on railway line 36. SNCB Class AM50
NMBS/SNCB Classical twin EMUs (also referred by their construction year - AM50 for "Automotrice 1950" up to AM79 for the last units from 1979) (or MS50 to MS79 for the Dutch-language equivalent "Motorstel") are electric multiple unit trains operated by the National Railway Company of Belgium (NMBS/SNCB). Infrabel is a Belgian government-owned public limited company. Transmission balise-locomotive (Dutch: Transmissie Baken Locomotief) (TBL) (English: "Beacon-to-Locomotive Transmission") is a train protection system used in Belgium and (until 2021) on Hong Kong's East Rail line. Versions TBL1 The TBL system is designed to stop a train passing a red signal, with operating speeds of up to 160 km/h. In 2006 13% of the Belgium train network used the original TBL system, introduced in 1982. The system requires the train driver to manually acknowledge a warning when passing a double yellow signal (similar to the Memor/ Le Crocodile system), as well as stopping a train automatically if it passes a red signal.
