Halldis Moren Vesaas Prize
The Halldis Moren Vesaas Prize ()Halldis Moren Vesaas (1907—1995) was a Norwegian author, poet and translator. is a Norwegian literary prize which is awarded annually to a Norwegian for lyric or other poetry, which through the quality and magnitude of the work has established a significant voice in Norwegian poetry. The prize was established by the publisher Olaf Norlis Bokhandel upon Halldis Moren Vesaas' death in 1995. The jury consists of a manager from Norlis, the literary director from another publisher and the current head of the Norwegian Writers' Center. The prize has not been awarded since 2007. Halldis Moren Vesaas
Halldis Moren Vesaas (18 November 1907 – 8 September 1995) was a Norwegian poet, translator and writer of children's books. She established herself as one of the leading Norwegian writers of her generation. Biography She was born on a family farm near Trysil in Hedmark county, Norway. Her father was story writer, poet, and playwright, Sven Moren. (1871–1938). She was the eldest and only girl in a family of five children. Her brothers included philologist Sigmund Moren (1913–1996). She attended the teacher college in Elverum 1925-1928, and then held various jobs in Hamar and Oslo. In 1930 she moved to Switzerland, where she worked for three years as secretary. In April 1934, she married the Norwegian author, Tarjei Vesaas (1897-1970). They settled on the Midtbø farm in Vinje in Telemark County where her husband worked as a teacher (1941–43). Arvid Torgeir Lie (18 August 1938 – 19 May 2020) was a Norwegian poet, writer of short stories and translator. He was born in Skafså in Mo, current Tokke municipality. Among his poetry collections are ''Under fuglens vengjekross'' (1967) and ''Snøvinter'' (1968), and his collection of short stories, ''Den nye maskina og andre noveller'', came in 1986. Rune Christiansen
Rune Christiansen (born 10 April 1963 in Bergen) is a Norwegian poet and novelist. He is a professor of creative writing at Telemark University College. He won the Brage Prize in 2014 and the Gyldendal lifetime award in 2015. Rune Christiansen debuted as a poet in 1986. Since then, he has written twelve collections of poems, and nine novels. Bjørn Aamodt
Bjørn Aamodt (24 February 1944 – 29 April 2006) was a Norwegian seaman, industrial worker and poet. Biography Aamodt was born in Bærum and died in Oslo, Norway. The son of artist and footballer Asbjørn Aamodt, he graduated artium at Valler Gymnasium in 1962 and later studied psychology at the University of Oslo, where he graduated in 1975. Torild Wardenær (born 30 November 1951) is a Norwegian poet and playwright. She hails from Stavanger. She made her literary debut 1994 with the poetry collection ''I pionértiden'', which earned her Aschehoug's debutant prize. She received the Halldis Moren Vesaas Prize in 1998. Georg Johannesen
Georg Johannesen (22 February 1931 – 24 December 2005) was a Norwegian author and professor at the University of Bergen. Background He was born in Bergen, Norway. He was the son of Knut Johan Johannesen (1900–1979) and Ingeborg Malene Olsdatter Skaalevik (1902–1981). Johannesen graduated artium at Bergen Cathedral School in 1949. He studied history, English and Norwegian at University of Oslo and took his master's degree in Literature History in 1960. He wrote his dissertation ''Vårmotivet hos Olaf Bull'' on the poetry of Olaf Bull (1883-1933). From 1960-63, he was a high school lecturer and 1964-69 a freelance author and writer. In 1969 he joined the University of Bergen as assistant teacher at the Nordic Institute. Øyvind Berg (born 14 January 1959 is a Norwegian lyric poet, playwright, actor and translator. Berg was born in Oslo. He studied to the intermediate levelThe Intermediate status requires that the student have taken 90 credits in a particular subject. This corresponds to roughly 1.5 years of study for that subject. in philosophy, literature and egyptology at the University of Bergen and the University of Tromsø.
