COMO The Halkin is a 5-star hotel in London, England. It is located in Belgravia, one of London's most affluent districts, just to the east of Belgrave Square in Halkin Street. It is operated by Como Hotels and Resorts, COMO Hotels and Resorts. It is considered to be one of the first boutique hotels in London. The Halkin has a Georgian façade of bricks and stone, but its interior and its 41 rooms and suites has a more contemporary design. COMO The Halkin is also the first hotel for COMO Hotels and Resorts. The hotel spent about £1 million on each of the 41 guest rooms and suites designed by Laboratorio Associati Italy. The Duff, later Duff Gordon Baronetcy, of Halkin in the County of Aberdeen, is a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 12 November 1813 for James Duff, British Consul in Cádiz, with remainder to his nephew, William Gordon. Duff died unmarried in 1815 and was succeeded according to the special remainder by his nephew, the second Baronet, who assumed the additional surname of Duff on succeeding to the title. He was the second son of Lord Rockville, fourth son of the 2nd Earl of Aberdeen. Duff Gordon sat as Member of Parliament for Worcester. Halkyn Castle
Halkyn Castle ( cy, Castell Helygain) is a mansion house in the village of Halkyn, Flintshire, Wales. The house, with its associated stable block, is designated by Cadw as a Grade II* listed building. History The house was designed by the architect John Buckler and built between 1824 and 1827 for Robert Grosvenor, who was at the time the 2nd Earl Grosvenor, and later the 1st Marquess of Westminster. The building of the castle was supervised by Benjamin Gummow, the Earl's architect and surveyor. It was used as a sporting lodge and, on occasions, for living accommodation. In 1886 the Chester firm of architects, Douglas and Fordham, added an extension in Elizabethan style for the 1st Duke of Westminster. The extension consisted of a wing containing a new drawing room.
