Hadouken! (band)
Hadouken! are a British band formed in London in 2006 by singer, writer and producer James Smith and synth player Alice Spooner along with guitarist Daniel "Pilau" Rice, bassist Christopher Purcell and drummer Nick Rice. The band name is taken from the special attack of the same name from the ''Street Fighter'' video game series. It was in Leeds that Hadouken! began their own record label, Surface Noise Records. History Early years After forming the label, Smith began writing and demoing the first Hadouken! tracks. In February 2007, Hadouken! self-released a two-song limited edition vinyl, a double-a side of "That Boy That Girl" and "Tuning In". The former gained popularity after the video made it to number one in MTV Two's NME Chart. Hadouken! played their first gig at the Dirty Hearts Club in Southend on 16 September 2006. Bolt Action Five were a dance-punk/industrial band from London, England, composed of Tobias J Hughes, Ian William Galloway, Dan "The Carnivore" Murtha and Mark Murphy. They formed in early 2006 from a variety of different members and appeared repeatedly in ''Artrocker'' and '' PlayMusic'' magazines, as well as in ''NME'', '' i-D'', '' Disorder Magazine'' and various online music journals. The band seemed to have difficulty describing their sound, variously categorising themselves as indie rock, electro, industrial pop, dance-punk, or electro-metal. In interviews they listed Devo, Nine Inch Nails, Wire, Prince and Michael Jackson as influences. The band split on 26 March 2008 and are working on new projects. Bloc Party
Bloc Party are an English Rock music, rock band, composed of Kele Okereke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards, sampler), Russell Lissack (lead guitar, keyboards), Justin Harris (bass guitar, keyboards, saxophones, backing vocals) and Louise Bartle (drums, percussion). Former members Matt Tong and Gordon Moakes left the band in 2013 and 2015 respectively. Their brand of music, whilst rooted in rock, retains elements of other genres such as electronica and house music. ''Not Here to Please You'' is an EP by British band Hadouken! released in USB form and digital download only. The band announced on 1 October 2007 that they would be doing something "slightly different" for their second mixtape. With the debut mixtape being released only on the Internet, it was announced that the second mixtape would be released in stores, as a 128MB USB memory stick. The mixtape was set to feature 6 new Hadouken! songs, including the single "Leap of Faith" and a remix of a previous single, "Liquid Lives". On 9 October 2007, the new track "Girls" was added to the band's website, as a flash banner, that when clicked played a low quality version of the new track. Upon the USB's release, some Mac users had problems with the product, however a fix was quickly posted on Hadouken!'s website. Background The track is described by the band's official Bebo website as: The track was released on 12 November on the EP titled ''Not Here to Please You'', and then released as a digital single on 18 November 2007. It peaked at number 97 on iTunes.
