Haare Williams
Sir Haare Mahanga Te Wehinga Williams is a New Zealand educator, broadcaster and writer. He is described as a pioneer in Māori broadcasting, credited for his role in establishing a joint venture between Aotearoa Radio and the South Seas Film and Television School. Early life and education As a young child Williams was brought up by his grandparents at Ōhiwa Harbour, with them he was immersed in te reo Māori (the Māori language). Williams started school when he as eight and learnt English then. His grandparents had previously been at Te Urewera but were dispossessed by government actions. Williams's heritage is Māori and he descends from the nations Tuhoe, Rongowhakāta and Ngāti Porou. Arena Williams
Arena Williams (born 1990) is a New Zealand politician. As of 2020, she is a Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives for the Labour Party. Early life and career Williams is affiliated with Te Aitanga-a-Māhaki, Ngāi Tūhoe and Ngāi Tahu. She studied law and commerce at the University of Auckland, and was active within the Princes Street Labour. In 2012 she was president of the Auckland University Students' Association. In 2012 she and other university students staged a campus protest to highlight the issue of rising student debt. The under-dressed students begged people passing on the street for clothing, graphically depicting how students have to "borrow to live". A knight is a person granted an honorary title of knighthood by a head of state (including the Pope) or representative for service to the monarch, the church or the country, especially in a military capacity. ''The Evening Post'' (8 February 1865 – 6 July 2002) was an afternoon metropolitan daily newspaper based in Wellington, New Zealand. It was founded in 1865 by Dublin-born printer, newspaper manager and leader-writer Henry Blundell, who brought his large family to New Zealand in 1863. Kenneth Francis Gray (24 June 1938 – 18 November 1992) was an international rugby union player from New Zealand. He represented New Zealand national rugby union team, New Zealand in 24 international games, playing lock and later prop forward. Biography Early life He was born in 1938 in Porirua.
