HDF Insurance Shoot-Out
The Saville Shootout is an annual curling tournament, held in September at the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. It is part of the women's tour since 2006 and is one of the first events of the year. The men's event was discontinued after 2015 but was brought back in 2023. It had been running since 2004. Liu Yin (curler)
Liu Yin (; born August 19, 1981 in Harbin, Heilongjiang; usually referred to in the media as Yin Liu) is a Chinese curler from Harbin. For many years she played third on the Chinese national team skipped by Wang Bingyu. Curling career 2002–2009 Liu has played internationally for China since 2002, when she was an alternate on the team at the when she had only been curling for two years. In 2004, she was a full member of the team. She played third for the team at the , and then second at the 2005 World Women's Curling Championship, her first experience at World's. The team finished 7th. The following season, Liu was playing lead for the team for the , and then she played third once again at the 2006 Ford World Women's Curling Championship, where the team finished 5th. Kaitlyn Lawes
Lesley Kaitlyn Lawes (born December 16, 1988) is a Canadian curler. Lawes was the long time third for the Jennifer Jones team that represented Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics where they won the gold medal. They were the first women's team to go through the Olympics undefeated and the first Manitoba based curling team to win at the Olympics. Lawes curled with John Morris in the mixed doubles event at the 2018 Winter Olympics where they won gold. This win made her and Morris the first Canadian curlers to win two Olympic gold medals, and Lawes was the first to win gold in two consecutive Olympics. Lawes was a member of the world champion team as a third at the 2018 Ford World Women's Curling Championship, where the team went through the event undefeated. Valeria Spälty (born 24 June 1983 in Glarus) is a Switzerland, Swiss curling, curler. Spälty started curling in 1992. Carmen Schäfer (curler)
Carmen Schäfer (born 8 January 1981 in Davos) is a Swiss curler. She plays third for Mirjam Ott. Schäfer had a fairly successful Junior career. She was the alternate on the Swiss team (skipped by Silvana Tirinzoni) that won the 1999 World Junior Championships, but she did not play any games. Schäfer skipped the Swiss team at the 2000 and 2001 World Juniors, finishing fourth and winning the bronze medal respectively. In 2000, she lost to the U.S. team (skipped by Laura Delaney) in the bronze medal game, 8–5. She had to beat Moe Meguro's Japanese team to capture the bronze in 2001, winning the game 5–4. In 2007, Schäfer joined Ott's team. They finished in fourth place at the 2007 European Curling Championships. Mirjam Ott
Mirjam Ott (born 27 January 1972 in Bern, Switzerland) is a retired Swiss curler who lives in Laax, Switzerland. She is the 2012 World Curling Champion skip. She is the skip (captain) of the Swiss Olympic Curling Team. She has participated in several Olympic Games contests and has won numerous awards in many other curling events worldwide. Career Ott won the Olympic silver medal twice; in the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City (with skip Luzia Ebnöther) and 2006 in Turin (as skip herself), making her the first woman with two Olympic medals in curling. Glenys Bakker
Glenys Bakker (born August 27, 1962 in High River, Alberta) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. Bakker played second for Shannon Kleibrink's bronze medal winning team at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Bakker played for Shannon Kleibrink for most of her curling career. At the 1993 Scott Tournament of Hearts, Bakker was Kleibrink's Alternate. She was Kleibrink's third at the 1997 Canadian Olympic Trials where the team lost to Sandra Schmirler in the final. In 2004, she was Kleibrink's second at the 2004 Scott Tournament of Hearts where they finished with a 6–5 record.
