HC Odorheiu Secuiesc
Handbal Club Odorheiu Secuiesc (in Hungarian: Székelyudvarhelyi Kézilabda Club, commonly abbreviated SzKC) is a Romanian team handball club based in Odorheiu Secuiesc. Founded in the summer 2005 as ''Junior Kézilabda Club'', the team entered the Romanian second division yet in that year. They won promotion to the top level championship in 2007 and two years later they already debuted on continental level, playing in the EHF Challenge Cup. In 2011 the team achieved their best ever result by finishing runners-up in the league, with that they earned the right to participate in the 2011–12 edition of the EHF Cup. To ensure that the handball in the town got not only past and present, the club runs a broad youth program, in which they co-operate with more than thirty schools in Harghita, Covasna and Mureş counties, with over 500 schoolboys attending on trainings in a number of age groups. Attila Verestóy
Attila Verestóy (1 March 1954–24 January 2018) was a Romanian chemical engineer and politician. A member of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR), he was also an elected member of the Romanian Senate for Harghita County from 1990 until 2018. Biography He was born to ethnic Hungarian parents in Odorheiu Secuiesc and completed secondary studies at the town's Petru Groza Theoretical High School (now called ''Tamási Áron''). In 1972, he enrolled at the Politehnica University of Bucharest, graduating from the Chemical Technology Faculty six years later. He then enrolled in a master's programme in Chemical Engineering at the same institution, and in 1999 earned a doctorate in Chemistry from Politehnica, specialising in inorganic chemistry and environmental protection. The Romanian Handball League, commonly known as Liga Națională or more recently as Liga Zimbrilor, is the men's top Romanian professional Team handball, handball league. The league comprises fourteen teams. History This sport was first played in Romania in 1920. After a visit in Germany, a few physical education teachers introduced this sport in their classes. Dragan Đukić (born 9 August 1962) is a Serbian handball coach. Currently the Coach of AEK Handball Club, Greece. With the National Team of Great Britain took part at London 2012 Olympic Games and with Montenegro participated at the European Championship in Croatia 2018.
