Ward (Vietnam)
Ward () is a type of third tier subdivision of Vietnam. It has equal status with township and commune. As of 13 December 2023, Vietnam has a total of 1,780 wards. According to hierarchy of Vietnamese administrative unit, Wards are subordinate to urban district, city or town as the Third Tier unit. Currently, to manage the urban areas and their associating families, each ward is divided into neighborhoods (; ), with each neighborhood the most basic organization of population. Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu Province
Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu (abbreviated BRVT) was formerly a province of Vietnam. It was located on the coast of the country's Southeast region. It bordered Đồng Nai to the north, Bình Thuận to the northeast and Ho Chi Minh City metropolitan area to the southwest. It also included the Côn Đảo islands, located some distance off Vietnam's southeastern coast. From 1954 to 1976, under South Vietnam, the province was called Phước Tuy. A district-level town () is a type of second tier subdivision of Vietnam. District-level towns along with urban districts, districts, municipal cities, and provincial cites have equal status. Also by virtue of Decree No. 42/2009/ND-CP, towns are officially classified into Class-3 or Class-4. The towns may only be a capital of a province, but not of a municipality as the second tier subdivision. At the third tier, towns are divided into wards and communes. Phú Mỹ is a provincial city (''thành phố thuộc tỉnh'') of Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu province in southeast Vietnam. the city had a population of 175,872. The city covers an area of 333.84 km². Phú Mỹ was formerly Tân Thành District, a rural district of the province, with its district capital lying at Phú Mỹ township. In 2018, Tân Thành District was dissolved to form the new district-level town then city of Phú Mỹ. The city seat lies at Phú Mỹ ward (former Phú Mỹ township) from which it takes its name.
