Hérib Campos Cervera
Hérib Campos Cervera (1905-1953) was a Paraguayan poet and writer. Childhood and youth Campos was born in Asunción, Paraguay, on March 30, 1905, son of Spanish parents, Herib Campos Cervera, also a poet, and of Alicia Diaz Perez, sister of the great intellectual Viriato Díaz Pérez. He was an intern at the Colegio San Jose de Asuncion, an institution he was to call “a jail” more than once, which shows his vital and free spirit as a youth. Besides philosophy and math, he also dedicated himself to literary criticism and especially to poetry. In the prologue of the second edition of “Ceniza Redimida” the scholar Miguel Angel Fernandez writes: “An unhappy childhood, far away from his parents, apparently marked his life, and in his poetry we may find the traces of this first stage of his life. Gabriel Casaccia
Gabriel Casaccia Bibolini (April 20, 1907 – November 24, 1980) was a Paraguayan novelist. He is considered the father of modern Paraguayan literature. Augusto Roa Bastos, another notable Paraguayan novelist, is quoted as saying “Gabriel Casaccia is the founder of modern Paraguayan narrative, which gives, in good measure, a fundamental character to all of his work and, to its author, the unusual merit of having launched the genre in a country which was fictionally unknown.” Life Casaccia was born in Asunción, Paraguay. He is the son of Benigno Casaccia and Margarita Bibolini, both Italian immigrants. He studied at the Colegio Nacional de la Capital, one of the most prestigious public high schools in the country, and finished his Law studies at Universidad Nacional de Asuncion. Rafael Alberti
Rafael Alberti Merello (16 December 1902 – 28 October 1999) was a Spanish poet, a member of the Generation of '27. He is considered one of the greatest literary figures of the so-called ''Silver Age'' of Spanish Literature, and he won numerous prizes and awards. He died aged 96. After the Spanish Civil War, he went into exile because of his Marxist beliefs. On his return to Spain after the death of Franco, he was named Hijo Predilecto de Andalucía in 1983 and Doctor Honoris Causa by the Universidad de Cádiz in 1985. He published his memoirs under the title of ''La Arboleda perdida'' (‘The Lost Grove’) in 1959 and this remains the best source of information on his early life. Ricardo Eliécer Neftalí Reyes Basoalto (12 July 1904 – 23 September 1973), better known by his pen name and, later, legal name Pablo Neruda (; ), was a Chilean poet-diplomat and politician who won the 1971 Nobel Prize in Literature. Neruda became known as a poet when he was 13 years old, and wrote in a variety of styles, including surrealist poems, historical epics, overtly political manifestos, a prose autobiography, and passionate love poems such as the ones in his collection ''Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair'' (1924). Julio Correa
Julio Correa Myzkowsky (August 30, 1890 – July 14, 1953) was a Paraguayan poet in Guarani language. He started to publish his poems in 1926. Encouraged by the poet Manuel Ortiz Guerrero, he began writing a column entitled "Dialoguitos Callejeros" (Small Street Dialogues) in the newspaper ''Guarani'', of Facundo Recalde. His talent became apparent during the Chaco War (1932–1935). His work in the Guarani language was well received by the public and he became known as an author, actor and director. From 1934 to 1936, he published his poems in the magazine ''Guarania'', of Natalicio González. Those became part, later on, of the book ''Body and Soul'' (1943). In 1947, he was arrested because of his writings. The civil war that year had a negative effect on the author, and he became depressed.
