Håvard Syvertsen
Håvard Syvertsen (born 4 February 1962) is a Norwegian novelist and short story writer. He made his literary debut in 1992 with the short story collection ''Nå ville han ikke tenke på det''. Among his novels are ''Etterpå'' from 1995, ''I lyset'' from 2002, and ''Det håndgripelige'' from 2010. He was awarded Mads Wiel Nygaards Endowment in 2000. Mads Wiel Nygaard's Endowment is an annually awarded literary prize from the publishing house Aschehoug. The prize is a recognition of superior literary work. The publisher's editorial management makes the award based on their collective judgement of merit. Applications are not accepted. The endowment is awarded in recognition of Mads Wiel Nygaard (1898–1952). Nygaard was the chief executive officer of Aschehoug. In 1940, he replaced his father William Martin Nygaard as CEO and served in that position until his own death during November 1952. Norwegian Authors' Union
The Norwegian Authors' Union ( no, Den norske Forfatterforening, DnF) is an association of Norwegian authors. It was established in 1893 to promote Norwegian literature and protect Norwegian authors' professional and economic interests. DnF also works in solidarity with persecuted writers internationally. As of 2004 the association had 513 members. The author Heidi Marie Kriznik has led the organization since 2017. Organization activities The Norwegian Authors' Union Literary Council annually awards a number of government and independently established scholarships to both members and non-members. The Literary Council consists of nine members and provides counsel on all matters of literary art, in addition to decisions on awards. Toril Brekke
Toril Brekke (born 24 June 1949) is a Norwegian novelist, writer of short stories, children's writer, biographer, translator and literary critic. Early and personal life Brekke was born in Oslo as a daughter of the poet Paal Brekke and painter Bjørg Rasmussen. She was married to Martin Indregard from 1972 to 1982, and their son Kjetil Indregard is also a writer. She was married to professor Jon Bing from 1988 to 1998. She worked at a bread factory, and later as a typographer, and has been a full-time writer since 1982. She was a member of the Workers' Communist Party (Norway), Workers' Communist Party during the early 1970s, but later renounced communism.
