Hà Tiên
Hà Tiên is a Provincial city in Kiên Giang Province, Mekong Delta in Vietnam. Its area is and the population as of 2019 is 81,576. The city borders Cambodia to the west. Hà Tiên is a tourist site of the region thanks to its beaches and landscapes. Etymology The name "Hà Tiên" is derived from the Sino-Vietnamese word: 河 僊 or 河 仙, meaning "river spirit". History A settlement and a port seem to have existed at the site of the present town of Hà Tiên from a very early period. Ptolemy's ''Geography'' identified a town there as ''Akadra'' and that it was the port for the Cambodian district of ''Pithonobaste'' - Banteay Meas, all this being part of the Kingdom of Funan. Provincial City (Vietnam)
Provincial city ( vi, Thành phố thuộc tỉnh), commonly known as City, a type of second tier subdivision of Vietnam is divided into 713 units along with urban district, district, municipal city, and town have equal status. Also by virtue of Decree No. 42/2009/ND-CP, city are officially classified into Class-1, Class-2 or Class-3. The cities can only subordinate to Province as the Second Tier unit. At the Third Tier, City is divided into wards and communes. Fact Cities are usually provincial urban and administrative centers. Đàng Trong
Đàng Trong ( vi-hantu, , lit. "Inner Circuit"), also known as Nam Hà (, "South of the River"), was the South region of Vietnam, under the rule of the Nguyễn lords, later enlarged by the Vietnamese southward expansion. The word ''Đàng Trong'' first appeared in the ''Dictionarium Annamiticum Lusitanum et Latinum'' by Alexandre de Rhodes. Contemporary European sources called it Cochinchina or Quinan. During the 17th century and almost all the 18th century, Đàng Trong was a de facto independent kingdom ruled by the Nguyễn lords while they claimed to be loyal subjects of the Lê emperors in Thăng Long (Hanoi). Kampot Province
Kampot ( km, កំពត ) is a province in southwestern Cambodia. It borders the provinces of Koh Kong and Kampong Speu to the north, Takéo to the east, Kep and the country of Vietnam ( Kiên Giang) to the south, and Sihanoukville to the west. To its south it has a coastline of around 45 km on the Gulf of Thailand. It is rich in low arable lands and has abundant natural resources. Its capital is the city of Kampot. Kampong Trach District
Kampong Trach District ( km, ស្រុកកំពង់ត្រាច) is one of 8 districts in Kampot Province and it is located at the eastern part bordering Vietnam to the east, Banteay Meas District to the north, Kep Province to the west and the Gulf of Thailand to the south. Anlong Pring Crane Reserve is a small protected area in Kampong Trach near the Vietnamese border on the edge of the Mekong Delta. Sarus cranes nest in the dry forest north of here in the wet season. During the dry season, a few hundred of these cranes take up residence at this reserve. The reserve is an IBA protection at 217 hectares, established on 6 January 2011. There is a similar sanctuary in the adjacent Takéo Province since 2007. A road border crossing into Vietnam is located in this district. Phú Quốc
Phú Quốc () is the largest island in Vietnam. Phú Quốc and nearby islands, along with the distant Thổ Chu Islands, are part of Kiên Giang Province as Phú Quốc City, the island has a total area of and a permanent population of approximately 179,480 people. Located in the Gulf of Thailand, the island city of Phú Quốc includes the island proper and 21 smaller islets. Rạch Giá () is a provincial city and the capital city of Kiên Giang province, Vietnam. It is located on the eastern coast of the Gulf of Thailand, southwest of Ho Chi Minh City. Đặng Phong
Đặng Phong (1937–2010) was a Vietnamese economic historian. Born in Hà Tây Province, Đặng Phong graduated from Hanoi University in 1960 then National Economics University in 1964. He then worked as researcher at Vietnam Institute of Economics from 1961 to 2000. He also taught at the Hanoi University of Business and Technology from 1996 to 2009 and was a visiting lecturer to various universities outside Vietnam. Throughout his life, he wrote more than 30 academic works, many of which focus on Vietnam's economic history, its centrally planned economy period and its transition to market economy. He is regarded by some to have been "a living dictionary of Vietnam's economy" and a "top economic historian". Early life Đặng Phong was born on November 4th, 1937 in Hà Tây.
