Fiona Hyslop
Fiona Jane Hyslop (born 1 August 1964) is a Scottish politician who served as Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Fair Work and Culture from 2020 to 2021. A member of the Scottish National Party (SNP), she has been a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Linlithgow constituency since 2011, having represented the Lothians region from 1999 to 2011. Hyslop was born in Ayrshire and spent her early years in England, before moving back to Scotland. She attended the University of Glasgow, where she earned a Masters of Art in Economic History and Sociology. She moved to Edinburgh and worked for the Standard Life Assurance Company. Hyslop joined the SNP in 1986 and spent her spare time campaigning in local elections. James Hyslop (poet)
James Hyslop (23 July 1798 – 1827) was a Scottish poet. Life Born in the parish of Kirkconnel, Dumfriesshire, an illegitimate son of Margaret Lambie (1778–1845) and William Hyslop (born 1775), Hyslop was early put out to farm-work, but taught himself languages and mathematics. From 1812 to 1816 he was engaged as a shepherd on Nether Wellwood farm, in the parish of Muirkirk. Between 1816 and 1818 he was employed at Corsebank; from there he wrote a poetical epistle to his early Kirkconnel teacher, signed "James Hislop", but later always used the spelling "Hyslop". In 1818 Hyslop went to Greenock, where he opened a day-school, and wrote for the '' Edinburgh Magazine''. At first he was fairly successful, but his prospects were blasted by having to pay a large sum for which he had become security. Jeff Hyslop ( ; born May 30, 1951) is a Canadian actor, singer, dancer, choreographer, and director. Many of his roles have been in musical theatre. His most famous roles were as Jeff the mannequin in the children's show ''Today's Special'' and as the title role in the Canadian travelling production of ''The Phantom of the Opera''. Tommy Hyslop
Bryce Thomas Scouller, known by his sporting name Thomas Hyslop (20 August 1871 – 21 April 1936) was a Scottish footballer who played in the Football League for Stoke City and Sunderland He also played for Sunderland and Rangers. He represented the Scotland national team, playing twice against England in 1896 and in 1897, scoring on his debut. He was one of a group of five men who were the first to be selected while playing for an English club, and also the first Stoke player to be capped by Scotland. Ricky Hyslop (26 April 1915 – 2 June 1998) was a Canadian violinist, conductor, composer, and arranger. He was commissioned to write works by the Buffalo Philharmonic (the symphonic poems ''Toronto 1830'' and ''Mizu Uni''), clarinetist Avrahm Galper (''Peanut Suite'' for solo clarinet), and guitarist Gregory Alliston (''Barca for guitar and soprano''). Kenny Hyslop
Kenneth John Hyslop (born 14 February 1951 in Helensburgh, Scotland) is a Scottish drummer. He joined the band Salvation with Midge Ure, which later became Slik and, after Ure's departure, some of the remaining members formed the Zones. He also went on to play with the Skids. In 1981, he joined Simple Minds, replacing Brian McGee. He contributed by recording "Promised You a Miracle" and appeared in the videos of "Sweat in Bullet" and "Love Song", from the ''Sons and Fascination'' album, which he did not appear on, but helped to promote. Following his departure from Simple Minds in 1982, Hyslop formed Set the Tone with bass player Bobby Paterson. Christian Terence Hyslop (born 14 June 1972) is a former professional footballer who played in the Football League as a full back. Hector Hyslop
Hector Henry Hyslop (12 December 1840 – 11 September 1920) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman who played primarily as a wicket-keeper. Hyslop made his first-class debut for Hampshire in 1876 against Derbyshire. He played eight first-class matches for Hampshire, his last match coming against Kent in 1877. In 1878 he played in several of the minor matches for the touring Australians. In September 1886 he played a first-class match for the touring Australians against an England XI at Harrogate; his inclusion in the Australia side came from the mistaken belief that Hyslop was born in Australia. Hyslop worked for 36 years as a local government clerk in Camberwell, London. Robin Maxwell-Hyslop
Sir Robert ("Robin") John Maxwell-Hyslop (6 June 1931 – 13 January 2010) was a British Conservative Party politician. The younger son of Royal Navy Captain Alexander Henry Maxwell-Hyslop (who adopted the additional name of Maxwell in 1925), AM, who served aboard HMS Devonshire and was recognised for his bravery in averting its loss by explosion in 1929, and was subsequently Captain of HMS Cumberland, and his wife Cecilia Joan (née Bayly), Maxwell-Hyslop was educated at Stowe School and Christ Church, Oxford. He worked for the aero engine division of Rolls-Royce from 1954 to 1960. He contested the Derby North constituency at the 1959 general election.
