''Hybrid'' is a remix/cover album, consisting of songs by Gary Numan remixed by other artists, covers of Numan's early songs from his first three albums, plus three new tracks created specifically for the album. ''Hybrid'' was recorded in autumn of 2002 and released in March 2003 with a collaboration from various industrial rock/heavy rock musicians such as Rico, Sulpher and Alan Moulder. The album includes tracks originally found on the albums ''Tubeway Army'', ''Replicas'', '' The Pleasure Principle'', ''Telekon'', ''Sacrifice'', ''Exile'' and ''Pure''. The album was released in two different editions, a standard two-CD version and a special edition that included an extra DVD containing additional remixes as well as a video section. Gary Anthony James Webb (born 8 March 1958), known professionally as Gary Numan, is an English musician. He entered the music industry as frontman of the new wave band Tubeway Army. After releasing two albums with the band, he released his debut solo album '' The Pleasure Principle'' in 1979, topping the UK Albums Chart. While his commercial popularity peaked in the late 1970s and early 1980s with hits including "Are 'Friends' Electric?" and "Cars" (both of which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart), Numan maintains a cult following. "Cars" is the debut solo single by English musician Gary Numan. It was released on 21 August 1979 and is from his debut studio album, '' The Pleasure Principle''. The song reached the top of the charts in several countries and was considered one of the first big new wave hits. Today, Numan is considered as an early pioneer of the genre. The song was the first release credited solely to Gary Numan after he dropped the band name Tubeway Army, under which he had released four singles and two LPs, including the number one UK hit "Are 'Friends' Electric?", and its parent album, ''Replicas''. Stephen John "Steve" Osborne (born 1963) is a British record producer, living in Bath, England. He has worked with a wide variety of musicians, including Suede, the B-52s, A-ha, New Order, Elbow, U2, Happy Mondays, Placebo, Gregory Porter, Doves, KT Tunstall, Vanessa Carlton, and Simple Minds. Career During the 1990s, Osborne was half of the Perfecto Records team, a production and remix collaboration with Paul Oakenfold; they worked with Happy Mondays, U2, and other artists. "This Wreckage" is a song written and performed by Gary Numan. It was featured as the opening track on his 1980 LP ''Telekon'' and was the third and final single to be released from that album (although the only one to feature on every configuration of ''Telekon'' worldwide).
