Jørgen Hviid
Jørgen Alfred Hviid ( lv, Jergens Alfreds Hvīds; 1 September 1916 – 5 September 2001) was a Danish and Latvian multi-sport athlete, and an officer in the Royal Danish Navy. He was primarily an ice hockey player, but also competed in speed skating and sailing. Hviid grew up in Riga, and played on the Latvia men's national ice hockey team as a teenager. He later moved to Denmark, and joined the Danish resistance movement at the onset of World War II, and began a military career. He founded the Kjøbenhavns SF hockey team in 1938, and served as the first captain of the Denmark men's national ice hockey team at the 1949 World Ice Hockey Championships. He won Danish ice hockey league championships as a player and as a coach, and was later a board member on the Danish Ice Hockey Union. He was posthumously inducted into both the IIHF Hall of Fame, and the Danish Ice Hockey Hall of Fame, and is referred to as the "father of Danish ice hockey". Bent Faurschou-Hviid
Bent Faurschou Hviid (7 January 1921 – 18 October 1944) was a member of the Danish resistance group Holger Danske during World War II. He was quickly named "Flammen" (meaning "The Flame"), for his red hair. In 1951, he and his Resistance partner Jørgen Haagen Schmith (Citron, or ''Citronen'' in Danish), were posthumously awarded the United States Medal of Freedom by President Harry Truman. According to several colleagues from the Holger Danske, no other resistance member was as hated or sought by the Germans as was Faurschou Hviid. Gunnar Dyrberg, leader of the Holger Danske from 1943 through 1945, said in the 2003 Danish documentary film, '' With a Right to Kill'' (''Med ret til at dræbe''), that no one knows exactly how many executions The Flame performed, but he was rumoured to have killed 22 persons. Morten Hviid, MA (Warwick), Cand Oecon (Aarhus), PhD (Warwick), is Professor of Competition Law at the University of East Anglia. He has previously held posts in the Economics Departments at University of Copenhagen and University of Warwick and in the School of Economic and Social Studies, University of East Anglia. Frederik Hviid
Frederik Carlo Hviid Köhler (born 9 November 1974 in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria) is a former long-distance freestyle and medley swimmer from Spain who competed at two consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1996. In the late 1990s he won several medals in the international short course and long course events. He's a recipient of the Spanish Cross of the Order of Merit (Silver and Bronze designation), handed to him by then crown prince Felipe de Borbón (Felipe VI). During his swimming career he made finals in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, winning the "B" Final in the 400m IM. At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, with aspirations and goals to medal in the 400m IM, he fell victim to influenza and was not able to qualify for the finals in his prime event, the 400m individual medley (IM).
