Hussein Kulmiye Afrah
Hussein Kulmiye Afrah ( so, Xuseen Kulmiye Afrax, ar, أفراح حسين) (1920 – 1993) was Vice President of Somalia in the era of Siad Barre between 1972 and 1990. He was also a member of the Supreme Revolutionary Council. Post Civil War Following the outbreak of the civil war in 1991, Kulmiye among other Hawiye Officers were not arrested nor expelled from Mogadishu. However General Kulmiye was known for his honest straight talk against the USC militias as a clan group incapable of uniting Somalia. Kulmiye did not participate in the civil war in 1991. Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed
Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed ( so, Cabdulaahi Yuusuf Axmed, ar, عبدالله يوسف أحمد; 15 December 1934 – 23 March 2012) was a Somali politician and former colonel in the Somali National Army. He was one of the founders of the Somali Salvation Democratic Front, as well as the Puntland State of Somalia, the latter of which he served as the first president. In 2004, Ahmed also helped establish the Transitional Federal Government, which he led as President of Somalia from 2004 until 2008. Personal life Abdullahi Yusuf was born on 15 December 1934 in Galkayo, situated in the north-central Mudug region of Somalia. The city was at the time part of Italian Somaliland. His family hailed from the Omar Mahmoud sub clan of the larger Majeerteen Harti Darod clan. For his post-secondary education, Ahmed studied law at the Somali National University in Mogadishu. Abdirizak Mohamud Abubakar (born in 1937 – died in 1997 in Salt Lake City, Utah) was one of the first Somali teachers in Galkayo School along with his uncle Abdullah Abubakar. Abdirizak Mohamud Abubakar educated many Somali students in both Italian Somaliland and British Somaliland in 1950s. Early years Abdirizak Mohamud Abubakar graduated from civilian universities in Egypt in 1959 and military academy in Egypt before he joined the nascent Somali Military in 1960. Mohamed Ali Samatar ( so, Maxamed Cali Samatar; 1 January 193119 August 2016), also known as Ali Samatar was a Somali politician and lieutenant general. A senior member of the Supreme Revolutionary Council, he also served as the Prime Minister of Somalia from 1 February 1987 to 3 September 1990.
