Hussein Abdul-Wahid Waham
Hussein Abdul-Wahid ( ar, حسين عبدالواحد ) (born on 28 February 1985 in Baghdad, Iraq) is a former Iraqi football midfielder. He last played for Al-Shorta SC in Iraq where he was the club's captain. Career A defensive midfielder that was on the fringes of Yahya Alwan’s Olympic team a couple of years ago. He played for Al-Sinaa and Zakho but finally made a name for himself at Al-Zawraa. Played for Erbil after spending the previous season with Duhok. He then moved to Al-Shorta in 2012. Hussein made his international Iraqi debut against Saudi Arabia and South Korea. He won the Iraqi League title with Al-Shorta in 2013 and 2019, the latter as captain, and is joint third-most successful player in the league's history with six titles. Al-Zawraa Sports Club ( ar, نادي الزوراء الرياضي) is an Iraqi sports club based in Utayfia, Karkh District (near Tigris River), Baghdad. Their football team compete in the Iraqi Premier League, the top-flight of Iraqi football. Al-Zawraa are the most decorated club in Iraq having won 14 Premier League titles, 16 Iraq FA Cups and 5 Iraqi Super Cups, all national records. Al-Zawraa also won the Iraqi Elite Cup a joint-record 3 times. Al-Zawraa have won the domestic double a record eight times and became only the second Iraqi team to win the domestic quadruple in the 1999–2000 season. The 2018–19 Iraqi Premier League ( ar, الدوري العراقي الممتاز 2018–19) was the 45th season of the Iraqi Premier League, the highest division for Iraqi association football clubs, since its establishment in 1974. The season started on 14 September 2018 and ended on 24 July 2019. A two-horse title race ensued for most of the season and Al-Shorta ended up as champions by finishing five points ahead of Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya at the top of the table. During this season, Al-Shorta managed to equal the record of 39 consecutive Iraqi Premier League matches undefeated set by Al-Zawraa in 1994. Al-Shorta Sports Club ( ar, نادي الشرطة الرياضي, lit=''Police Sports Club'') is an Iraqi sports club based in Al-Rusafa, Baghdad. It has teams in 17 different sports, more than any other Iraqi club, and the best known section of the club is the football team, whose origins date back to 1932. 2008–09 Iraqi Premier League
The 2008–09 Iraqi Premier League was the 35th edition of the competition. It started on 1 November 2008 and ended on 16 July 2009. 27 teams from all over the country competed for the title. Erbil won the title by defeating Al-Najaf in the final via penalty shootout after a goalless draw. It was Erbil's third league title in a row. The two teams would have qualified for the 2010 AFC Cup, but were disqualified due to FIFA's suspension of the Iraq Football Association.
