Arthur Hurdman
Arthur Stanley Hurdman (q3 1882 – 1953) was an English footballer who played at outside right in the Football League for Sunderland. He also played non-league football for clubs including Sunderland Black Watch, Darlington, South Shields Adelaide, Wingate Albion and Sunderland Rovers. Life and career Hurdman was born in Sunderland in 1882. He played football for Wearside League team Sunderland Black Watch from 1900. While training as a schoolteacher at Borough Road College, London, he was unavailable for club football during term-time. He signed for Sunderland as an amateur in 1906. A short but sturdy man, described as "one of the most diminutive players in first-class football", and possessed of considerable pace, he made his first-team debut on 1 December 1906 away to Woolwich Arsenal in the First Division. George Charles Hurdman
George Charles Hurdman (September 23, 1870 – December 22, 1936) was a Canadian lumber merchant and political figure. He represented Ottawa West in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1914 to 1919 as a Liberal member. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario, the son of George Hurdman and Agnes Hurdman. He worked for several lumber firms before establishing his own company in 1899. In that same year, he married Katherine Lynton. Hurdman defeated the incumbent James A. Ellis to win a seat in the provincial assembly in 1914. He served in the local militia and was a lieutenant in the Princess Louise Dragoon Guards during World War I World War I (28 July 1914 11 November 1918), often abbreviated as WWI, was one of the deadliest global conflicts in history. Hurdman Station (OC Transpo)
Hurdman is a station on Ottawa's O-Train Confederation Line, and bus rapid transit (BRT) system, Ottawa Rapid Transit, transitway. Location The station is located just southeast of List of bridges in Ottawa, Hurdman Bridge where Ontario Highway 417, Highway 417 crosses the Rideau River. It is also located near the intersection of Industrial Avenue and Riverside Drive (Ottawa), Riverside Drive/Vanier Parkway. There are connections from Hurdman station to the nearby neighbourhood of Riverview (Ottawa), Riverview to the east with a bus-only road connecting to Alta Vista Drive. There are also connections for bicycle users, as Hurdman station is located very closely to the Capital Pathway#Rideau River Pathway, Rideau River bicycle path. The station and nearby landmarks Hurdman Park, Hurdman Road, and Hurdman Bridge are named for the early settlers of the region.
