The Huntington Hammer were a professional indoor football team that began play as a charter member of the Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) for its inaugural 2011 season. The Hammer were based in Huntington, West Virginia, with home games played at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena. The Hammer were the third indoor football team to play in Huntington, succeeding the National Indoor Football League's River Cities LocoMotives (2001) and the American Indoor Football Association's Huntington Heroes (2006-2008). A team called the West Virginia Wild was set to play in the Continental Indoor Football League for 2009, but the franchise was revoked prior to the team's inaugural season. Dray Mason
Andray Lee Mason III (born October 30, 1985) is a former American football running back and wide receiver. Early life Dray attended Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. There he was a standout running back as well as a defensive back, while also playing basketball and track and field. He helped his Trojan teammates win their third consecutive IHSAA Class 3A state championship in a 49-0 victory over NorthWood High School. In his senior season championship game, Mason ran for 205 yards and five touchdowns. During its three-year run, the Trojans owned a 40-5 mark, including a perfect 15-0 season in 2002. The 2003 title moved Bishop Chatard into a tie for most football state championships with seven sharing the mark with Ben Davis High School. An athletic conference is a collection of sports teams, playing competitively against each other in a sports league. In many cases conferences are subdivided into smaller divisions, with the best teams competing at successively higher levels. 2011 UIFL Season
The 2011 Ultimate Indoor Football League season was the first season of the league. The regular season lasted from February 18 to May 29 and the postseason, will be held the following two weeks with the championship game being held at the highest remaining seed. The 2011 season went off without any teams folding or any games being missed or rescheduled. The Northern Kentucky River Monsters finished with the best regular season record, finished 11–3. However, due to league sanctions they were not able to host an playoff games and were dropped to a four seed. Saginaw finished 9–5, followed by Eastern Kentucky 8–6, Huntington 7–7, Johnstown 6–8 and Canton 1–13. Saginaw defeated Northern Kentucky, 48–47, in the first semifinals of the Ultimate Bowl I Playoffs, sponsored by Trophy Awards. Michael Robinson (arena Football)
Michael Robinson (born March 3, 1986) is a former professional arena football and indoor football defensive end. College career Robinson attended Nassau Community College where he was a standout member of the football team. He was named a 2005 pre-season NJCAA honorable mention as a tight end by Rivals.com. Professional career Huntington Hammer Robinson was selected with the first pick of the second round (7th Overall) by the Huntington Hammer in the 2011 UIFL Draft. Robinson enjoyed a great season with the Hammer, on his way to being named to the 1st Team All-UIFL as a defensive lineman.
