The Hunter 44, also called the Hunter 44 DS (Deck Salon), is an American sailboat, that was designed by Glenn Henderson and first built in 2003. Production The boat was built by Hunter Marine in the United States from 2003 to 2008, but it is now out of production. A total of 151 examples were completed during its five-year production run. Design The Hunter 44 is a development of the 2002-introduced Hunter 426 DS, with a redesigned aft cabin. The Hunter 44 design was developed into the Hunter 45 DS in 2008 with the addition of twin helms, redesigned forward berth and new cabin windows. The Hunter 44 shares the same hull design as the Hunter 426 DS, Hunter 45 DS, Hunter 44 AC (aft-cockpit) and the Hunter 45 CC (center cockpit). The Nordic 44 is an American sailboat that was designed by Robert Perry as a racer- cruiser and first built in 1980. Production The design was built by Nordic Yachts in Bellingham, Washington, United States between 1980 and 1989, with 39 examples built. A luxury tax imposed in the US in 1991 caused the shut-down of the company. Gary Nordvedt, the founder of Nordic Yachts established Norstar Yachts with his brother Steve, in Bellingham as a powerboat builder in 1994. He bought the old molds back and returned the Nordic 44 to production in 2009 as the Norstar 44, although the company went out of business in 2017. The Corbin 39 is a Canadian sailboat that was designed by Robert Dufour and Marius Corbin as a global circumnavigation cruiser and first built in 1979.Sherwood, Richard M.: ''A Field Guide to Sailboats of North America, Second Edition'', pages 328-329. C&C 44
The C&C 44 and the C&C 44 Custom are a series of Canadian sailboats, that were designed by Robert W. Ball and first built in 1985. Production The C&C 44 design prototype was built by C&C Yachts in Canada and then production was undertaken in the United States at C&C's Middletown, Rhode Island plant, starting in 1985 and ending in 1991. The C&C 44 Custom was built by the Custom Division of C&C. The design is now out of production. The C&C 44 was produced in two versions, Grand Prix and Custom. A small amount of pre-preg fibreglass laminates were used for the hull and a spar from Hall Spars with four-spreaders. The boats have full-height and full-length longitudinal stiffeners, and honeycomb panels with carbon fiber reinforced polymer skins. Nomex honeycomb was used for the deck. B&R Rig
The B&R rig is a variant of the Bermuda sailboat rig, designed and patented by Swedish aeronautical engineers Lars Bergström and Sven Ridder. It employs swept spreaders that are usually angled aft, together with "stays" running diagonally downward from the tip of the spreaders to the attachment of the next pair of spreaders to the mast or to the intersection of the mast with the deck (so-called reverse-diagonal shrouds) that facilitates a pre-bend of the mast (curving aft) that is sometimes tuned into the rig before it is stepped onto the boat. Conventional shrouds thereby contribute to both lateral and longitudinal stability, unlike rigs with unswept spreaders.
