Hundred Of Bagot (South Australia)
The Hundred of Bagot is a cadastral hundred in the County of Eyre in South Australia. It is located between the Mount Lofty Ranges on the west and the Murray River further to the east. The Hundred of Bagot is almost exactly spans the boundaries of the contemporary town of Sedan. History The Hundred of Bagot was proclaimed in 1860 by Governor Richard Graves MacDonnell. It is named after Charles Hervey Bagot, MLC. In November 1873, the District Council of North Rhine was established, bringing local governance to the hundred and much of its westerly neighbour the Hundred of North Rhine. In 1918 many South Australian place "names of enemy origin" were changed to sound less German and the North Rhine council, like the hundred it governed, had its name changed. North Rhine council became Keyneton council, reflecting its population centre at Keyneton, and the hundred was renamed 'Jellicoe'. County Of Eyre
The County of Eyre is one of the 49 cadastral counties of South Australia. It was proclaimed by Governor George Grey in 1842 and named for the explorer Edward John Eyre. It covers a portion of the state between the Adelaide Hills in the west and the Murray River in the east from Robertstown and Mannum on the northern boundary to Sedan and Swan Reach on the southern boundary. The District Council of Mount Pleasant was a local government area in South Australia from 1935 to 1997. The council seat was located at Mount Pleasant. It was established on 1 May 1935 following the amalgamation of the District Council of Springton and District Council of Tungkillo with a section of the Hundred of Finniss from the District Council of Mannum and a section of the Hundred of Mobilong from the District Council of Mobilong. It had an area of approximately , comprising mainly "agricultural, grazing and vineyard lands", and included the whole of the cadastral Hundreds of Jutland and Tungkillo and parts of the Hundreds of Moorooroo, Talunga, Finniss and Mobilong. The District Council of Morgan was a local government area in South Australia from 1888 to 1997, centring on the town of Morgan. The council was established on 5 January 1888 following the passage of the ''District Councils Act 1887''. It comprised the cadastral hundreds of Brownlow, Cadell, Eba, Hay, Krichauff (later renamed Beatty), Lindley, Schomburgk (later renamed Maude) and Stuart. The District Council of Mannum was a local government area in South Australia from 1877 to 1997, centring on the town of Mannum. It was proclaimed on 23 August 1877, comprising the cadastral Hundred of Finniss, "situated between the eastern fringe of the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Murray River." The first meeting of the council was held on 1 September 1877 at the Bogan Hotel (now the Mannum Hotel). It had 120 ratepayers in its first year, with a ratable property value of £2,910. In the early 1880s, the council area had a population of 773. The District Council of Truro was a local government area in South Australia from 1876 to 1991. It was proclaimed on 15 August 1876, comprising an area of 508 square kilometres, including the Hundred of Anna, the southern portion of the Hundred of Dutton and the northern portion of the Hundred of Jellicoe. There had been two previous proposals to introduce local government in the Truro area, in 1860 and 1868, but these were rejected after local opposition. Keyneton, South Australia
Keyneton is a locality in South Australia. The town is in the Mid Murray Council local government area, north-east of the state capital, Adelaide. At the 2011 census, Keyneton and the surrounding area had a population of 534. The town was named after English pastoralist Joseph Keynes (related to the Keynes Family), who had settled the area in 1842 and whose descendants still live and farm in the area.
