Hundred Flowers Awards
The Hundred Flowers Awards () are, together with the Golden Rooster Awards, the most prestigious film awards honouring the best in Chinese cinema, as well as Hong Kong cinema and the Cinema of Taiwan, they are classified as the Chinese equivalent of the United States Golden Globes. The awards were inaugurated by China Film Association in 1962 and sponsored by ''Popular Cinema'' () magazine, which has the largest circulation in mainland China. The awards were formerly voted by the readers of ''Popular Cinema'' annually. Recent polls allow voters to cast ballots through SMS, the Internet or by phone call. Voting is now no longer confined to readers of ''Popular Cinema''. Award recipients receive a statuette in the shape of a goddess of Flowers (). Raman Hui
Raman Hui Shing-Ngai (Traditional Chinese: 許誠毅, born 4 July 1963) is a Hong Kong animator, film director, and film producer. He is best known for directing the films ''Monster Hunt'' and ''Monster Hunt 2''. Early life Hui was born in Hong Kong, and grew up in a single parent family, with his mother raising him and two other siblings. Liking to draw since he could remember, he went to Hong Kong Polytechnic University where he graduated in 1984 in graphic design. Career After the graduation, he worked as a cel animator at Quantum Studios in Hong Kong. In 1989, he moved to Canada to attend a three-month course at Sheridan College to improve his knowledge in computer animation. For a while he was creating hand-drawn animated productions for TV commercials in Toronto. Feng Xiaogang
Feng Xiaogang (; born 18 March 1958 in Beijing) is a Chinese film director, screenwriter, actor, producer and politician. He is well known in China as a highly successful commercial filmmaker whose comedy films do consistently well at the box office, although Feng has broken out from that mold by making some drama and period drama films. Feng was a member of the 12th National Committee of the CPPCC. Biography The son of a college professor and a factory nurse, Feng joined the Beijing Military Region Art Troupe as a stage designer after high school. He began his cinema career as an art designer in the Beijing Television Art Center in 1985. Later, he moved on to write screenplays. ''So Young'' () is a 2013 Chinese drama film directed by Zhao Wei. It is based on the best-selling novel of the same name ''To Our Youth that is Fading Away'' by Xin Yiwu. The film is Zhao's directorial debut. The film's English-language title alludes to the song " So Young" by the British alternative rock band Suede from their self-titled debut album. Peter Chan
Peter Ho-sun Chan (born 28 November 1962) is a film director and producer. Early life Chan was born in British Hong Kong to parents China. He and his family moved to Thailand when he was 12, where he grew up amongst the international Chinese community in Bangkok. He speaks Thai as fluently as a Thai person. He later studied in the United States where he attended film school at UCLA, with a minor in accountancy. He returned to Hong Kong in 1983 for a summer internship in the film industry.
