Humanistische Omroep
HUMAN (earlier Humanistische Omroep and HOS: English: ''Humanist Broadcaster'') is a special broadcaster on the Netherlands Public Broadcasting system, which is allowed to broadcast on radio and television because of their spiritual background. It was one of the "2.42 broadcasters" (named after the Article 2.42 of the ''Mediawet'', the Dutch media law, which allowed faith-based broadcasters to get airtime on radio and TV without having to have any members). However, HUMAN has been attempting to obtain a regular public broadcasting license, and attained the minimum number of members to be eligible to become an aspirant broadcaster as of 2014. As of 2022 it operates as a company within the Dutch Public Broadcasting system. HUMAN is known for broadcasting from a humanism, humanist perspective and has broadcast since 1989. Netherlands Public Broadcasting
(; abbreviated to NPO ; literally "Dutch Public Broadcaster") or Dutch Foundation for Public Broadcasting () is a Dutch public broadcasting organisation that administers public broadcasting services in the Netherlands. The NPO is also the owner of the radio-spectrum licence and public DVB-T and DAB+ frequencies. Humanism
Humanism is a philosophical stance that emphasizes the individual and social potential and agency of human beings. It considers human beings the starting point for serious moral and philosophical inquiry. The meaning of the term "humanism" has changed according to the successive intellectual movements that have identified with it. During the Italian Renaissance, ancient works inspired scholars in various Italian cities, giving rise to a movement now called Renaissance humanism. ''Among Nonbelievers'' (Dutch title: ''Onder Ongelovigen'') is a 2015 bilingual English–Dutch documentary on the situation of endangered nonbelievers, especially ex-Muslims, around the world. Set in the United Kingdom, Turkey, the Netherlands and Switzerland, the film is directed by Dorothée Forma and produced by HUMAN with the support of the Dutch Humanist Association. Freethinkers On The Run
Freethought (sometimes spelled free thought) is an epistemological viewpoint which holds that beliefs should not be formed on the basis of authority, tradition, revelation, or dogma, and that beliefs should instead be reached by other methods such as logic, reason, and empirical observation. According to the ''Oxford English Dictionary'', a freethinker is "a person who forms their own ideas and opinions rather than accepting those of other people, especially in religious teaching."
