Forest (formerly HumanForest) is a Bicycle-sharing system, dockless bicycle hire service in London in the United Kingdom. The service charges riders £1 to unlock their ride, and rewards them with 1 minute for parking in London boroughs, borough designated parking areas. As of September 2021, Forest has over 800 bicycles on city streets, making it one of the four main Electric bicycle, e-bike operators in London, competing with Santander Cycles (docked) and Lime (transportation company), Lime, these services replacing Chinese companies Mobike and Ofo (company), Ofo after their insolvencies and removal. Forest launched in 2020, but was shut down within months after someone was injured due to a faulty e-bike. The company recalled all of the bikes and replaced them, restarting service in 2021. Santander Cycles
Santander Cycles (formerly Barclays Cycle Hire) is a public bicycle hire scheme in London in the United Kingdom. The scheme's bicycles are popularly known as Boris Bikes, after Boris Johnson who was Mayor of London when the scheme began operating. The operation of the scheme is contracted by Transport for London to Serco. Bikes and docking stations are provided by 8D Technologies. The scheme is sponsored, with Santander UK being the main sponsor from April 2015. Barclays Bank was the first sponsor, from 2010 to March 2015. Credit for developing and enacting the scheme has been a source of debate.
