Alexander Huish
Alexander Huish (1594?–1668) was an English cleric, academic and biblical scholar. Life He was the son of John Hewish or Huish, born in the parish of St. Cuthbert, Wells, Somerset, in 1594 or 1595. He entered Magdalen Hall, Oxford, in 1609, from which he was invited in 1613 by Dorothy Wadham, the foundress of Wadham College, to be one of the original scholars of the new college. On 10 February 1614 he was admitted B.A., the first of the college to graduate. On 27 June 1614 Huish was recommended for election to the fellowship by the foundress, and was admitted 30 June 1615. He proceeded M.A. on 17 December 1616, and B.D. on 2 June 1627. He held various college offices, and resigned his fellowship 28 June 1629. Huish was appointed a prebendary of Wedmore Secunda in Wells Cathedral on 26 October 1627, was given the rectory of Beckington, Somerset, on 21 December 1628, and that of Hornblotton in the same county on 6 February 1638. David Huish
David Huish (born 23 April 1944) is a Scottish professional golfer, perhaps best known for being the halfway leader of The Open Championship in 1975. Personal life Huish (pronounced "hush") was born in North Berwick, Scotland. He married his second wife Diane in 1989 with whom he had a son, Oliver, in 1990. He also has two children from a previous marriage, Susan (b. 1967) and Martyn (1969). Career Huish turned professional in 1959, with his first job being as an assistant at Gullane. He took up his first head professional position at Hamilton Golf Club in 1965, soon after winning the Scottish Assistants' Championship at Longniddry. Fred Huish
Frederick Henry Huish (15 November 1869 – 16 March 1957), known as Fred Huish, was an English professional cricketer who played as a wicket-keeper for Kent County Cricket Club in the period before the First World War. Huish played over 450 times for Kent and was part of the sides which won four County championship titles in the Golden Age of cricket leading up to the war. He holds the record for the most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in first-class cricket who did not play a Test match.. Huish became an influential figure and senior professional at Kent at a time when amateur cricketers were the only acceptable captains in English county cricket. Marcus Bourne Huish (25 November 1843 – 4 May 1921) was an English barrister, writer and art dealer. He was the son of Marcus Huish of Castle Donington and his wife Margaret Jane Bourne. His mother died in 1847 and in 1849 his father remarried Frances Sarah Darwin, daughter of Sir Francis Sacheverel Darwin. Captain Mark Huish (9 March 1808 – 18 January 1867) was an English railway manager. He is best known for his term as General Manager of the London & North Western Railway, a position he held for 12 years, beginning from the Company's formation in 1846.
