Bob Hugin
Robert John Hugin (born July 23, 1954) is an American businessman who was formerly the executive chairman of Celgene, a biopharmaceutical company. Hugin was the Republican nominee in the 2018 United States Senate election in New Jersey, where he was defeated by incumbent Democratic senator Bob Menendez. In 2020, he ran for chairman of the New Jersey Republican Party, but was defeated by former Hackettstown mayor Michael Lavery. In 2021, following his victory in the Republican gubernatorial primary, former state assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli endorsed Hugin to lead the state Republican Party. Because the party's gubernatorial nominee traditionally selects the party chair, Hugin replaced Lavery without any opposition. Education and military service Hugin grew up in Union City, New Jersey. He was the first in his family to attend college, earning a full-scholarship to Princeton University. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University in 1976. After graduating, Hug ...

Hugin (longship)
The Hugin is a reconstructed longship located at Pegwell Bay in Kent, England. It was a gift from the Danish government commemorating the 1500th anniversary of the arrival of Hengist and Horsa, leaders of the Anglo-Saxon invasion, at nearby Ebbsfleet. The ship is a replica of the much later ca. 890 Gokstad ship. The boat was built in Denmark whence it was sailed by 53 Danes to England in 1949. The ship landed at Viking Bay in Broadstairs, Kent, before returning to Denmark. In 1950 a copy was presented to the people of Thanet by the King of Denmark and placed in its current location. In 2005 the ship underwent major repairs by Thanet District Council assisted with EU funding. ''Hugin''’s arrival was presented in a newsreel short entitled "Kent Welcomes Viking Invaders", which British Pathé has uploaded to the internet. Footage from the newsreel was used in the 1965 '' Doctor Who'' serial ''The Time Meddler'' to represent an 11th-century Viking raiding party."Restoration" d ...

Bayesian Networks
A Bayesian network (also known as a Bayes network, Bayes net, belief network, or decision network) is a probabilistic graphical model that represents a set of variables and their conditional dependencies via a directed acyclic graph (DAG). Bayesian networks are ideal for taking an event that occurred and predicting the likelihood that any one of several possible known causes was the contributing factor. For example, a Bayesian network could represent the probabilistic relationships between diseases and symptoms. Given symptoms, the network can be used to compute the probabilities of the presence of various diseases. Efficient algorithms can perform inference and learning in Bayesian networks. Bayesian networks that model sequences of variables (''e.g.'' speech signals or protein sequences) are called dynamic Bayesian networks. Generalizations of Bayesian networks that can represent and solve decision problems under uncertainty are called influence diagrams. Graphical mode ...

Hugin (software)
Hugin () is a cross-platform open source panorama photo stitching and HDR merging program developed by Pablo d'Angelo and others. It is a GUI front-end for Helmut Dersch's Panorama Tools and Andrew Mihal's '' Enblend'' and ''Enfuse''. Stitching is accomplished by using several overlapping photos taken from the same location, and using control points to align and transform the photos so that they can be blended together to form a larger image. Hugin allows for the easy (optionally automatic) creation of control points between two images, optimization of the image transforms along with a preview window so the user can see whether the panorama is acceptable. Once the preview is correct, the panorama can be fully stitched, transformed and saved in a standard image format. Features Hugin and the associated tools can be used to * combine overlapping images for panoramic photography * correct complete panorama images, e.g. those that are "wavy" due to a badly levelled panoramic camera ...

Autonomous Underwater Vehicle
An autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) is a robot that travels underwater without requiring input from an operator. AUVs constitute part of a larger group of undersea systems known as unmanned underwater vehicles, a classification that includes non-autonomous remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) – controlled and powered from the surface by an operator/pilot via an umbilical or using remote control. In military applications an AUV is more often referred to as an unmanned undersea vehicle (UUV). Underwater gliders are a subclass of AUVs. History The first AUV was developed at the Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington as early as 1957 by Stan Murphy, Bob Francois and later on, Terry Ewart. The "Special Purpose Underwater Research Vehicle", or SPURV, was used to study diffusion, acoustic transmission, and submarine wakes. Other early AUVs were developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the 1970s. One of these is on display in ...

Kongsberg Maritime
Kongsberg Maritime (KM) is a Norwegian technology enterprise within the Kongsberg Gruppen (KOG). Kongsberg Maritime deliver systems for positioning, surveying, navigation, and automation to merchant vessels and offshore installations. Their most well known products exist within dynamic positioning systems, marine automation and surveillance systems, process automation, satellite navigation, and hydroacoustics. History Kongsberg Maritime's history dates back to 1946. Simonsen Radio, later Simrad was founded 31. December that year. The first product was a radio telephone for the fishing fleet. The first echo sounder for the commercial fishing fleet came on the market in 1950. The first alarm system was ready in 1959. Kongsberg Maritime has over the years absorbed a number of well known maritime and offshore related companies, including: * Autronica * Consultas * Contros * Embient * GeoAcoustics * KonMap * Kongsberg Mesotech * NorControl * Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine * Seatex ...

Hugin-class Destroyer
The ''Hugin'' class of destroyers consisted of and built for the Royal Swedish Navy built prior to the First World War and surviving without major incident through their lifespan. Design and description The ''Hugin''-class ships were the first Swedish warships built with steam turbines.Westerlund 1985, p. 360 Construction and careers ''Hugin'' was built by Götaverken and launched on December 10, 1910 while ''Munin'' was constructed by Kockums and launched December 5, 1911. The ship class was built with steam turbine A steam turbine is a machine that extracts thermal energy from pressurized steam and uses it to do mechanical work on a rotating output shaft. Its modern manifestation was invented by Charles Parsons in 1884. Fabrication of a modern steam turbin ...s instead of piston engines as the previous Swedish destroyers had been. ''Hugin'' was in service until June 13, 1947 while ''Munin'' had been decommissioned on October 18, 1940. Citations Bibliography * * * ...
