Hugh Kelly (poet)
Hugh Kelly (1739 – 3 February 1777) was an Irish dramatist and poet. From the 1760s he was employed as a propagandist for the British government, attacking members of the Opposition. After arriving in London in 1760 to work as a staymaker, he soon turned to become a writer and made a living as a journalist. In 1766 he published ''Thespis'', a long poem about the acting profession, which gained him wide attention. He followed up this success with the novel '' Memoirs of a Magdalen'' in 1767. He ultimately became known for his stage plays such as ''False Delicacy'' and '' A Word to the Wise''. Early life The son of a Dublin publican, Hugh Kelly was born at Killarney, County Kerry. He enjoyed a reasonable education but was forced to drop out following his father's financial difficulties. Hugh Redmond Kelly (17 August 1919 – 30 September 1977) was an Irish professional association football, footballer who played as a Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper for various clubs in Northern Ireland and England, making four international appearances for Ireland national football team (1882–1950), Ireland. Hugh Craine Kelly
Hugh Craine Kelly (2 December 1848 – 13 January 1891) was a farmer and politician in colonial South Australia. Hugh was born the fifth son of William Kelly (1804–1888) of Cudlee Creek and Gumeracha, South Australia. He was educated at Prince Alfred College and farmed at Alma, South Australia. He was of Chairman of the Alma District Council and President of the Alma Farmers' Union. He was a worker for the temperance movement and lay preacher at his Wesleyan Methodist church. He was elected to the seat of Wooroora in the South Australian House of Assembly and served from April 1890 until the following January, when he died as a result of being thrown from a buggy near Port Wakefield. James Cowan and J. G. Ramsay met similar deaths. One critic praised him for his clear and melodious voice, his matter-of-fact clarity of expression, steadfastness of purpose and imperviousness to flattery. Hugh "Hug" Kelly
Hugh ("Hug") Kelly is an English rock drummer best known for his tenure with Groop Dogdrill between 1993 and 2000. Born Hugh Kevin Kelly in Askern, a suburb of Doncaster, UK, Kelly played drums in various school and community bands before eventually joining short-lived indie rock/ shoegazing bands Honey Haze and Heathers in the late 1980s/early 1990s. His departure from Heathers was assured when he accepted an offer from Darren Belk to join Beachbuggy in early 1991, for which Kelly adopted the pseudonym Jim VeVee. Kelly continued to work with Beachbuggy after joining the metal/ punk band Groop Dogdrill in 1993 who eventually enjoyed considerable success in the UK and United States. Unable to commit to both bands Kelly quit Beachbuggy shortly after the release of their debut US-only CD album ''Unsafe... At Any Speed'' in 1998.
