Hugh J. Rosellini
Hugh J. Rosellini (June 16, 1909 – November 26, 1984) was an American lawyer, politician and justice of the Washington Supreme Court from 1955 to 1984, who also served as chief justice from 1965 to 1967. Early life and education Rosellini was born and raised in Tacoma, the only child of immigrants from Chiesina, Italy. In 1927, he enrolled at the University of Puget Sound, and in 1929 switched to the University of Washington, following in the footsteps of his childhood friend, Albert Rosellini, who later became governor. In 1933, he graduated with a LL.B. degree from the University of Washington School of Law. Legal career After graduation, Rosellini entered private practice in Tacoma from 1933 to 1945. In 1938, Rosellini was elected to the state House of Representatives as a Democrat from the 27th District in Tacoma. In 1944, he ran unsuccessfully for Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney. Port Orchard, Washington
Port Orchard is a city in and the county seat of Kitsap County, Washington, United States. It is located due west of West Seattle and is connected to Seattle and Vashon Island via the Washington State Ferries run to Southworth. It is named after Port Orchard, the strait that separates Bainbridge Island from the Kitsap Peninsula. As of the 2010 census the population was 11,144, and in 2019 the population was an estimated 14,597. History The first European-Americans to settle in what is now Port Orchard were William Renton and Daniel Howard, who set up a sawmill there in 1854. The town that was to become Port Orchard was originally platted in 1886 by Frederick Stevens, who named the new location after his father, Sidney.
