Hugh Grundy
Hugh Birch Grundy (born 6 March 1945) is an English musician. In a career spanning more than 50 years, Grundy came to prominence in the mid 1960s as the drummer of the English Rock music, rock band the Zombies. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. Early years Hugh Grundy was born in Winchester, Hampshire, England, to Ted and Aileen Grundy. The family moved to Hatfield, Hertfordshire, where Ted worked at the De Havilland factory as an aircraft inspector and metallurgist; he was also an amateur violinist. Aileen was a secretary at the police headquarters in Welwyn Garden City. Grundy's middle name, Birch, was his paternal grandmother's maiden name. His first drum was made by his father at work during his off-hours. "She's Not There" is the debut single by British rock band the Zombies, written by keyboardist Rod Argent. It reached 12 in the UK Singles Chart in September 1964, and 2 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in the United States at the beginning of December 1964. In Canada, it reached 2. ''Rolling Stone'' magazine ranked "She's Not There" No. 297 on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. "She's Not There" is also The Zombies only song deemed "lyrically inappropriate" following the September 11th terrorist attacks. Shepherd's Bush
Shepherd's Bush is a district of West London, England, within the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham west of Charing Cross, and identified as a major metropolitan centre in the London Plan. Although primarily residential in character, its focus is the shopping area of Shepherd's Bush Green, with the Westfield London shopping centre a short distance to the north. ''Odessey and Oracle'' is the second studio album by English rock band the Zombies. It was originally released in the UK in April 1968 by CBS Records. The album was recorded primarily between June and August 1967. The sessions took place at EMI (now Abbey Road Studios) and Olympic Studios in London. The Zombies, having been dropped from Decca Records, financed these sessions independently. After signing with CBS, two singles and later the album itself were released to critical and commercial indifference, and the band quietly dissolved. A third single from the album, "Time of the Season", became a surprise hit in the United States in early 1969 after CBS staff producer Al Kooper recommended it be released on Date Records. The album gradually achieved critical praise and a cult following, and has since become one of the most acclaimed albums of the 1960s. ''New World'' is the third album by The Zombies, recorded in 1990. Several tracks were released in Europe in 1990 on an album called ''The Return of the Zombies''. This album features numerous tracks from that release that were remixed or re-recorded, as well as new tracks, and was released in April 1991. According to the liner notes, it was recorded primarily to protect the name of the band in response to numerous groups of imposters that were then touring the US. Original members Rod Argent and Paul Atkinson were unavailable to join them for more than one track each. The album was originally issued in the UK on RCA but never obtained a US release. RCA issued it on CD and later reissued on Ace's Big Beat label. Sebastian Santa Maria
Sebastian Santa Maria (September 24, 1959-October 20, 1996) was a Chilean-Swiss musician. He was born in 1959 in Santiago, Chile, but settled in Lausanne, Switzerland at age 17. He played the piano in several clubs in Lausanne until beginning a fertile career as a composer, composing a number of songs including some made for Catherine Lara, Bernard Lavilliers, for Viktor Lazlo's album My Delicious Poisons and Isabelle Adjani. Beside these composer activities, he also played numerous piano duet jazz concerts with François Lindemann, and a few years later he founded with Lindemann a unique group of seven Steinways called Piano Seven. He also participated on the reincarnation of British band The Zombies, playing on their 1991 album, ''New World''.
