Hugh G. Harrison
Hugh Galbraith Harrison (April 23, 1822 – August 12, 1891) was a real estate investor and banker who served as the second List of mayors of Minneapolis, mayor of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Life and career Harrison was born in 1822 in Belleville, Illinois. While growing up he helped his father and older brothers who were involved in the milling business before attending college at McKendree University. In 1847 he married Irene Amelia Robinson. In 1859 he and two of his brothers relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota where they invested in property as well as businesses including the First National Bank of St. Paul, the St. Paul & Sioux City Railroad and the Joseph Dean & Company lumber company. In 1868 Harrison was elected as the second mayor of Minneapolis, serving from 1868 to 1869. Belleville is a city and the county seat of St. Clair County, Illinois, coterminous with the now defunct Belleville Township. Lakewood Cemetery
Lakewood Cemetery is a large private, non-sectarian cemetery located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. It is located at 3600 Hennepin Avenue at the southern end of the Uptown area. It is noted for its chapel which is on the National Register of Historic Places and was modeled after the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey. Eugene McLanahan Wilson (December 25, 1833 – April 10, 1890) was an American lawyer and Democratic politician who served in various legal and political offices in Minnesota including as a member of Congress and as the fifth and seventh mayor of Minneapolis. Early life Wilson was born in Morgantown, Monongalia County, Virginia (now West Virginia) on December 25, 1833. His father Edgar C. Wilson had been a lawyer and US representative from Virginia (as had his grandfather Thomas Wilson). On his mother's side he was the great-grandson of Isaac Griffin, also a longtime US Representative from Pennsylvania. He attended school in Morgantown and graduated from Jefferson College in 1852. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1855 and relocated to Minnesota shortly thereafter.
