Hugh Clark (actor)
Hugh Clark (died 1653) was a prominent English actor of the Caroline era. He worked in both of the main theatre companies of his time, Queen Henrietta's Men and the King's Men. Clark was with Queen Henrietta's Men during the first and most significant phase of their existence, from 1625 to 1636. Like some other actors of English Renaissance theatre, Clark began as a boy player filling female roles. He played Gratiana in Shirley's '' The Wedding'' in 1626, and Bess Bridges in both parts of Heywood's ''The Fair Maid of the West'' in 1630–31. Not long after that time, though, Clark switched to adult male roles. He played Syphax and Nuntius in Nabbes's ''Hannibal and Scipio'' ( 1635), and Hubert in Davenport's ''King John and Matilda''. The Queen Henrietta's company was disrupted and fractured by the bubonic plague epidemic of 1636–37. Hugh Clark (politician)
Hugh Clark (May 6, 1867 – May 13, 1959) was an educator, newspaper editor and political figure in Ontario, Canada. He represented Bruce Centre in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1902 to 1911 and Bruce North from 1911 to 1921 as a Conservative. He was born in Kincardine Township, Canada West, the son of Donald Clark and Mary McDougall, both Scottish immigrants, and was educated there. Clark taught school for several years. From 1890 to 1925, he published the ''Kincardine Review''. In 1894, he married Katherine McKay Ross. Clark was editor for the ''Walkerton Herald'' in 1890 and managing editor for the ''Ottawa Citizen'' from 1897 to 1898. His election to the Ontario assembly in 1902 was overturned but he was elected again in the by-election which followed in 1903. Hugh Massey Clark
Hugh Massey Clark (21 January 1886 – 21 January 1956), of New York City, was a noted philatelist and publisher. He was married to Theresa Maria Clark. Philatelic editing Hugh Clark joined the Scott Stamp and Coin Company in 1912 and served in various capacities at the company, including being appointed as manager in 1914. Theresa Maria Clark (née Scheidemantel) also worked as an editor at the firm, and they eventually married. In 1935 he and his wife Theresa co-edited the ''Scott Standard Postage Stamp Catalogue''. In 1938 Hugh and Theresa purchased the firm, sold off the retail postage stamp and coin sales portions of the business, and renamed it Scott Publications. They both continued their work at Scott until they finally sold the firm to Gordon R. Harmer in 1946.
