Hubert Detremmerie
Hubert Detremmerie (26 March 1930; Deerlijk–9 November 2008; Ronse) was a Belgian businessman and banker. From 1955 until he retired in March 1995, he worked at BACOB Bank (now part of Belfius), the bank of the Belgian Catholic labor organisation, finally as chairman of its managing board. From 1995 until 2001, he served as a director of Lernout & Hauspie. He served as a member of the advisory board to the Belgian Ministry of Finance for Financial Institutions and Markets, the Council of Labor, the King Baudouin Foundation, and the Belgian ''National Counsel for the Cooperation Among Labor, Business and Government''. He was a member of the Coudenberg group, a Belgian federalist think tank. Ronse
Ronse (; french: Renaix, ) is a Belgian city and a municipality in the Flemish province of East Flanders. The municipality only encompasses the city of Ronse proper. History Early settlements to 14th century The hills around Ronse show clues of human activity in the Paleolithic period. In the Neolithic, the area was populated with settled farmers and cattle breeders. Assorted fragments of building structures also attest of settlements in the area during Roman times. Ronse's urban center took shape in the 7th century, when Saint Amand – or one of his successors – built a church and monastery in honour of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Lernout & Hauspie Speech Products, or L&H, was a Belgium-based speech recognition technology company, founded by Jo Lernout and Pol Hauspie, that went bankrupt in 2001 because of a fraud engineered by the management. The King Baudouin Foundation (KBF) ( nl, Koning Boudewijnstichting, KBS; french: Fondation Roi-Baudouin) is an independent, pluralistic foundation based in Brussels (Belgium). The Coudenberg group ( nl, Coudenberggroep, french: Groupe Coudenberg) was a Belgian federalist think-tank, it was named after the place where the members met, the Coudenberg, one of the seven hillocks on which the centre of Brussels has been built. Wilfried Achiel Emma Martens (; 19 April 1936 – 9 October 2013) was a Belgian politician who served as prime minister of Belgium from 1979 to 1981 and from 1981 to 1992. A member of the Flemish Christian People's Party, during his premiership he oversaw the transformation of Belgium into a federal state. He was one of the founders of the European People's Party. Alfons "Fons" Remi Emiel, Viscount Verplaetse (19 February 1930 – 15 October 2020) was a Belgian economist who served as Governor of the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) from 1989 until 1999.
