The Croats (; hr, Hrvati ) are a South Slavic ethnic group who share a common Croatian ancestry, culture, history and language. They are also a recognized minority in a number of neighboring countries, namely Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia. Due to political, social and economic reasons, many Croats migrated to North and South America as well as New Zealand and later Australia, establishing a diaspora in the aftermath of World War II, with grassroots assistance from earlier communities and the Roman Catholic Church. Hrvoje Čale
Hrvoje Čale (born 4 March 1985) is a former Croatian international footballer. Club career Čale began his career at age nine in the youth ranks of Dinamo Zagreb. He made his break into the first team in 2003. However, he was mostly used as a substitute when starters were injured. After his loan to Inter Zaprešić in 2004–05, Čale became a starter for Dinamo, where he played until the end of the 2007–08 season. In May 2008, Čale was transferred to Trabzonspor for a fee of €2.5 million. He signed a four-year contract. Before the move, Čale called Davor Vugrinec and asked him about his experience with the club. Vugrinec talked very positively about the club, which Čale said contributed to his decision. Hrvoje Horvat
Hrvoje Horvat (born 22 May 1946) is a Croatian handball coach and player who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics and in the 1976 Summer Olympics for SFR Yugoslavia. International career He was part of the Yugoslav team which won the gold medal at the Munich Games. He played all six matches and scored fifteen goals. Hrvoje Klasić (born 6 December 1972) is a Croatian historian. Since 2003, Klasić is a professor at the Department of History at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb. His work focuses on contemporary Croatian and world history. Klasić is a critic of attempts at rehabilitation of the World War II fascist Ustasha movement in the country. Hrvoje Perić (born October 25, 1985) is a Croatian professional basketball player currently playing for Benedetto XIV Cento of the Italian second-tier Serie A2 Basket. Standing at 2.01 m, he plays at the power forward position. Professional career Croatia After progressing through the youth ranks of home town club KK Dubrovnik, he debuted with the first team in the Croatian second division (A-2) in 2000-01. Hrvoje Petek (born January 13, 1958) is a Croatian-born American physicist and the Richard King Mellon Professor of Physics and Astronomy, at the University of Pittsburgh, where he is also a professor of chemistry. Hrvoje Šarinić (; 17 February 1935 – 21 July 2017) was a Croatian politician who served as Prime Minister of Croatia from 1992 to 1993. Šarinić was born in Sušak and graduated from the University of Zagreb then-Faculty of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy. Šarinić had a business career in Paris, France. He was a dual citizen of both Croatia and of France, as he spent 24 years in France, from 1963 to 1987. After the first democratic elections in Croatia, he joined the government of Franjo Tuđman and became head of his personal office. After the parliamentary elections of 1992 he, as member of Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), was appointed to the post of prime minister. He holds an MS in biochemistry from the University of Zagreb and an MFA in photography from Yale University School of Art.
