Hristo Atanasov (Dikanya)
Hristo Atanasov was a Bulgarian revolutionary, a worker of the Internal Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organization (IMARO). Biography Hristo Atanasov was born in the village of Dikanya, Radomir region, in 1877. After he finished elementary school, he worked in Sofia, where he became a member of the revolutionary organization IMARO. In 1904, he went to the region of Veles as a member of the revolutionary band of Ivan Naumov Alyabaka. He was a freedom fighter until the end of 1904, and later at the beginning of 1907, he became a leader for the Bitola revolutionary region. He was active in the agricultural villages of Pelagonia Pelagonia ( mk, Пелагонија, Pelagonija; el, Πελαγονíα, Pelagonía) is a geographical region of Macedonia named after the ancient kingdom. Ivan Naumov Alyabaka
Ivan Naumov ( bg, Иван Наумов), nicknamed Alyabaka or Alyabako was a Bulgarian revolutionary, a member of the Internal Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organization (IMARO). Biography Ivan Naumov was born in the village of Oraovec, Veles region, in a poor family. Because of the lack of finances, he was not able to study and went to work in Thessaloniki. There he learnt about the ideas of the revolutionary organization IMARO and in 1900 he was invited to join the organization by Mihail Apostolov Popeto. He worked as a grocer in Drama and Kavala. Stoyan Avramov described Ivan Naumov as follows: In 1902 he killed a Turk and escaped to Sofia. The same year, he returned as a freedom fighter in the regions of Odrin and Pashmakli. Pelagonia ( mk, Пелагонија, Pelagonija; el, Πελαγονíα, Pelagonía) is a geographical region of Macedonia named after the ancient kingdom. Veles ( mk, Велес ) is a city in the central part of North Macedonia on the Vardar river. The city of Veles is the seat of Veles Municipality. Veles is the sixth largest Macedonian city with a total population of 43,716 (census 2002). Gorna Dikanya ( bg, Горна Диканя) is a village in Radomir Municipality, Pernik Province, Bulgaria. Geography Gorna Dikanya is located in a mountainous area at an altitude of 900 metres. It covers an area of 35 km2. The village is located at the foot of the western slopes of Verila mountain. The distance from the village to the capital Sofia is 45 km, to the town of Dupnica - 20 km, to Radomir (town), Radomir -20 km and the distance to Pernik is 25 km.
