Howard Bernstein
Sir Howard Bernstein (born 9 April 1953) was the Chief executive of Manchester City Council at Manchester Town Hall from 1998 to 2017. Originally joining the Council as a junior clerk, he became the Chief executive in 1998, responsible for setting development goals and encouraging investment in the city. He is Honorary Professor of Politics at The University of Manchester. Early life Bernstein is Jewish. He was born in Cheetham Hill and attended the Ducie High School. History Before appointment as Chief executive, Bernstein championed the Manchester Metrolink system. The system became the first light-rail network to be built in a British city for over a century when it opened in the early 1990s. MIPIM (in French, Le Marché International des Professionnels de L’immobilier) is an international property event hosted in Cannes, France, each March. It is hosted by Reed MIDEM and includes an exhibition area, networking events and conference sessions over four days. The 2022 event is due to take place from March 15 to 18. Exchange Square (Manchester)
Exchange Square is civic square in Manchester, England. The square was created after the IRA 1996 Manchester bombing. This reconstruction included the structural relocation of two pubs to make room for the new Marks & Spencer store. Today the square is a major shopping area including branches of high-end department stores Selfridges & Harvey Nichols, New Cathedral Street, the Corn Exchange and an entrance to the Manchester Arndale, one of the most-visited shopping centres in the United Kingdom. The University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) was a university based in the centre of the city of Manchester in England. It specialised in technical and scientific subjects and was a major centre for research. On 1 October 2004, it amalgamated with the Victoria University of Manchester (commonly called the University of Manchester) to produce a new entity called the University of Manchester. BBC North West is the BBC English Region serving Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, North Yorkshire (western Craven), West Yorkshire (western Calderdale), Derbyshire (western High Peak), Cumbria (Barrow-in-Furness and South Lakeland) and the Isle of Man. The Five Year Forward View was produced by NHS England in October 2014 under the leadership of Simon Stevens as a planning document. Publication and reception It received praise for brevity, being only 39 pages, and lacking the illustrations which had graced its predecessors.
