''How the World Is Losing Poets'' ( cs, Jak svět přichází o básníky) is a Czechoslovak comedy film directed by Dušan Klein, based on the novella ''Amatéři. Jak přichází svět o básníky'' by Ladislav Pecháček. It was released in 1982. The first of the "Poets hexalogy", the title is followed by ''How Poets Are Losing Their Illusions'' (1985), ''How Poets Are Enjoying Their Lives'' (1988), '' Konec básníků v Čechách'' (1993), '' Jak básníci neztrácejí naději'' (2004), and '' Jak básníci čekají na zázrak'' (2016). The film stars Pavel Kříž, David Matásek, and Miroslava Šafránková. Synopsis Štepán Šafránek, a high school student with poetic talent, and his friend Kendy, a musician, agree to write and perform a musical play. František Ringo Čech (born 9 July 1943) is a Czech musician, songwriter, painter, actor, comedian, publicist, politician, dramatist, screenwriter, and author. Life and career Early musical career: 1959–1965 František Čech was born in Prague in 1943 to František Čech Pražský, a musician of Viennese origin. From 1959 to 1963, he worked as a radio mechanic and television technician, while playing drums in various Dixieland and brass ensembles, such as Storyville Jazz, which also included Ivan Mládek and Ivo Pešák. In 1963, he cofounded the rock band Olympic together with Jaromír Klempíř, and began writing song lyrics for the first time. Jiřina Jirásková (17 February 1931 – 7 January 2013) was a Czech actress. She was born and died in Prague, Czech Republic. Biography She studied at the Prague Conservatory and later at DAMU. After graduating, she spent one year in a regional theatre in Hradec Králové. In 1951, aged 20, she moved to the Prague's Vinohrady Theatre, where she spent her entire career. From 30 May 1990 to 30 June 2000, she was also the director of the theatre. Jirásková began to appear in TV in the 1950s; she played in the first Czechoslovak TV series ''Rodina Bláhova'' (Bláha Family). She got her first on-screen opportunity in the spy drama ''Smyk'', directed Zbyněk Brynych. Zdena Hadrbolcová (13 July 1937 – 20 November 2023) was a Czech actress. Life Zdena Hadrbolcová was born on 13 July 1937 in Prague. She was educated at a French grammar school in Prague and studied theatre directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Hadrbolcová was briefly married while a student.
