Houston Dash
The Houston Dash is a professional women's soccer team based in Houston, Texas. It joined the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) in the 2014 season, and is affiliated with the MLS team Houston Dynamo FC. History Establishment On November 19, 2013, the Houston Dynamo began talks in the initial stages with the intention of bringing a top flight women's professional soccer franchise to Houston. Just a week later, the effort was bolstered when the Dynamo began accepting refundable deposits for a potential NWSL expansion team. On December 11, 2013, the National Women's Soccer League awarded the Houston Dynamo and the city of Houston an expansion franchise. PNC Stadium (formerly BBVA Compass Stadium then BBVA Stadium) is an American multi-purpose stadium located in Houston, Texas that is home to Houston Dynamo FC, a Major League Soccer club, the Houston Dash of the National Women's Soccer League, and Texas Southern Tigers football. The stadium is the result of combined commitments of $35.5 million from the city of Houston and $60 million from the Houston Dynamo. Harris County agreed to pay for half of the land in exchange for the ability to jointly own the stadium after its completion date in May 2012. James Edward Harden Jr. (born August 26, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Alexandra Erika Singer (born November 18, 1987) is an American sports executive and former professional soccer player who played as a defender. She is currently the general manager of Houston Dash. Playing career Singer has played for Washington Freedom in the Women's Professional Soccer before she was waived during the 2010 season. Singer was signed by Perth Glory in Australia's W-League to bolster their defensive stocks and spent the latter part of 2009 playing for the Perth based side. In 2011, she left Perth Glory for the Swedish team Dalsjöfors GoIF in Damallsvenskan. In January 2012 she transferred to the German club Turbine Potsdam and signed a contract until 2014. The National Women's Soccer League Players Association (often known as NWSL Players Association or NWSLPA) is the officially recognized union of players in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). History The NWSLPA was formed in May 2017 under the leadership of Yael Averbuch and represented by lawyer and former WPS player Meghann Burke. The NWSLPA officially unionized in November 2018. James Andrew Clarkson (born 6 March 1972) is an English-American football coach and former player who was most recently the head coach of Houston Dash in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). Career He previously served as academy director for Houston Dynamo as well as head coach of Dynamo PDL affiliate Brazos Valley Cavalry FC.
