Household Name Records
Household Name Records is a DIY punk rock record label, based in London, UK founded in 1996. It has been home to notable artists including Capdown, Howards Alias, Lightyear, and Adequate Seven. Biography Household Name Records was started in 1996 by David "Lil" Giles and Katherine "Kafren" Vik to promote unknown UK bands. Encouraged after successfully releasing their first compilation the team planned several more releases. To begin with the label focused on hardcore punk. In May 2000, the label released Capdown's debut album '' Civil Disobedients''. The album featured hardcore, but also mixed in ska and dub. According to Drowned in sound the album kick-started an underground punk scene. The album went on to be listed at 76 in the NME's top one hundred list for the decade. The success of Capdown allowed the record label to diversify its roster with more experimental punk bands. In turn the label had a great impact on the UK punk scene. Big D And The Kids Table
Big D and the Kids Table is a ska punk band formed in October 1995 in Boston, Massachusetts when its members converged in college. Their first release was on their own Fork in Hand Records label, but have since teamed with Springman Records and SideOneDummy. The band has been noted for its strict DIY work ethic, such as engineering, producing, and releasing their own albums and videos and self-promotion of their own shows. The band released Good Luck in 1999 on Asian Man Records and quickly gained a large underground audience. The album featured a 10 piece band, including six horn players. The album is characterized and widely liked due to its catchy horn melodies, along with its fun and energetic nature. In 2000 the band recorded a gangsta rap album, ''Porch Life'', and distributed it unofficially via cassette tape. In 2003 the album was officially released on CD through Fork in Hand. A lockdown is a restriction policy for people, community or a country to stay where they are, usually due to specific risks (such as COVID-19) that could possibly harm the people if they move and interact freely. Leftöver Crack
Leftöver Crack is an American punk rock band formed in 1998, following the breakup of Choking Victim. The band is currently signed to Tankcrimes for CD releases, and Alternative Tentacles for vinyl releases. Leftöver Crack spans several different music genres including hardcore punk, ska, and crust punk. They write mostly political lyrics of a radical leftist nature, opposing religion, capitalism, and authority. Members of Leftöver Crack reside in the C-Squat on 155 Avenue C in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City. Natives of New York City, band members have a well-documented history of back-and-forth conflict with the NYPD which precedes the band's formation. The King Blues are a British punk rock band from London credited for fusing punk and hip hop together with influences from ska and spoken word. Tariq Ali described the band's sounds as "rough, radical music that should unsettle the rulers of this country. A new generation of musicians are challenging war-monger politicians and their courtiers". Influences include Public Enemy (group), Public Enemy, The Clash and The Specials. Indecision (band)
Indecision was an American hardcore punk band that was started in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn in 1993, and officially disbanded in the summer of 2000 though they still play shows occasionally for charity. Indecision is known for their song "Hallowed Be Thy Name". The song features the lyric "For those I love, I will sacrifice" that fans across the world have turned into a tattoo. Photographer Laura Rauch took a photograph of the tattoo on the ribs of a 19-year-old US Army Infantryman named Kyle Hockenberry who was being treated in a medevac helicopter following an explosion that cost him both of his legs and one arm. The photo was taken for a military newspaper and went on to win an award from the Society of Professional Journalists. The lyric subsequently gained popularity with members of the armed forces. Hostage Life
Hostage Life was a Canadian punk band from Toronto. History Formed in 2002, Hostage Life released its first EP, ''Sing for the Enemy'' on Toronto's independent punk rock label, Underground Operations, home to such bands as Closet Monster and Protest The Hero. The band's second album on the same label, titled Walking Papers, received positive criticism from reviewers, and the first single, "This Song Was Written By A Committee" achieved widespread radio-play on Toronto's alternative music radio station, CFNY. Lead singer Colin Lichti was the frontman for Brampton, Ontario band Marylin's Vitamins. Most recently, they played at the SCENE Music Festival in St. Catharines, Ontario (a festival which was host to bands such as Alexisonfire, City And Colour, and The Salads, among others), as well as Toronto's Wakestock 2006, with the likes of Social Code, Boys Night Out, No Use for a Name and Sloan. Hard Skin is an English punk group from Gipsy Hill, London who play in the early UK Oi! style. History Hard Skin is an oi band founded in 1996 and their first album ''Hard Nuts and Hard Cunts'' appeared that year. The band were: bassist "Fat Bob" (Sean Forbes of Wat Tyler), guitarist and lead vocalist "Johnny Takeaway" (Ben Corrigan of Thatcher On Acid) and drummer "Nosher" ( Chris Acland of indie/Britpop band Lush). After Acland's death, he was replaced on drums by "Nipper" (Scott Stewart) for second album ''Same Meat Different Gravy'' in 2005, which like its predecessor was received positively in punk and Oi! circles despite (or perhaps partly because of) the band's parodic tendencies. The Hard-Ons
The Hard-Ons are an Australian punk rock band, which formed in 1982 in Punchbowl, New South Wales. Its founding members were Keish de Silva on lead vocals and drums, Peter "Blackie" Black on guitar and backing vocals, and Ray Ahn on bass guitar. The band issued eight studio albums prior to their disbandment in 1994, and achieved 17 consecutive number-one hits on the Australian alternative charts during their first 12 years as a band. During that time, they became Australia's most commercially successful independent band, with over 250,000 total record sales.. Ensign is an American hardcore punk band from New Jersey. They formed in 1995 and signed with Indecision Records in 1996. They signed to the larger label "next door", Dexter Holland's Nitro Records, in 1998 and finally came to rest at Blackout Records in 2003 after a brief sortie back to Indecision in 2000. Captain Everything! were a punk band from Watford, United Kingdom. Formed in 1998, the band play high tempo pop-punk, which was branded "Bubblegum Thrash". Renowned for their heavy touring schedule, they have played all over the UK and Europe, touring with bands such as The Vandals, Capdown, and Nerf Herder. They were part of the roster of London punk label Household Name Records. History They met at Parmiter's School and formed in 1998.
