House Of Shock
The House of Shock is a seasonal haunted attraction (simulated), haunted attraction located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Every year, the House is opened on weekends in October. It is known for its satanic themes and intensity by New Orleans residents and tourists. The name "House of Shock" is a reference to the show of the popular long-time local horror host, Morgus the Magnificent. Following a 2014 shutdown, the House of Shock opened again in 2015. In 2017, the House was permanently closed after 25 years of service and was replaced with New Orleans Nightmare. History Founded by Pantera's frontman Phil Anselmo and friends, the House of Shock started in 1992 in Gracianette's backyard. In 1993 it moved to Gracianette's grandmother's backyard to allow for more room. Morgus the Magnificent, also known as Momus Alexander Morgus, is a fictional character created and portrayed by actor Sidney Noel Rideau (aka Sid Noel). From the late 1950s into the 1980s Morgus was a "horror host" of late-night science fiction and horror movies and television shows that originated in the New Orleans, Louisiana market. Morgus is a quintessential mad scientist, assisted by executioner-styled sidekick, Chopsley (Tommy George). Goatwhore is an American extreme metal band formed in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1997. Biography Goatwhore was formed by guitarist/backing vocalist Sammy Duet, who was previously the lead guitarist for Louisiana sludge metal band Acid Bath. The band's origins can date back to 1991 with Sammy and drummer Zak Nolan. The band was at the time called "Killgore" with Duet on lead guitar and vocals and Zak Nolan on drums.
