Hougang Mall
Hougang Mall (Chinese: 后港购物坊), previously known as NTUC Hougang Mall, is a suburban shopping mall in Hougang, Singapore. It is near Hougang Central Bus Interchange, as well as Hougang MRT station. In 2006, the mall underwent renovation; it transformed part of the second level, formerly occupied by NTUC FairPrice, into a food cluster. The mall previously had renovations done on the fifth level. Before renovations, a food court stood on the fifth floor. Now, a playground (on the roof which offers a good view of the surrounding HDB flats), and some other shops are on the fifth floor while the food court was shifted to level 4 to the area which previously housed the NTUC Club. Hougang
Hougang is a planning area and mature residential town located in the North-East Region of Singapore. The town is the most populous in the region, being home to 247,528 residents as of 2018. Hougang planning area is bordered by Sengkang to the north, Geylang and Serangoon to the south, Bedok to the southeast, Toa Payoh to the southwest, Paya Lebar to the east, Ang Mo Kio to the west and Bishan to the southwest. Hougang MRT Station
Hougang MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the North East line (NEL) in the Hougang planning area in Singapore. Located within the Hougang Town Centre, the station is directly connected to Hougang Central Bus Interchange and sits underneath that bus interchange. Opened on 20 June 2003 as part of the NEL, this station will become an interchange station along the Cross Island line (CRL) when stage 1 opens in 2030. Shopping Mall
A shopping mall (or simply mall) is a North American term for a large indoor shopping center, usually anchored by department stores. Hougang Central Bus Interchange is a bus interchange serving the town of Hougang. It is located directly above Hougang MRT station. This bus interchange was planned to be an integrated transport hub. By 2030, Hougang Central Bus Interchange would be majorly renovated to accommodate the Cross Island line section, and would become an Integrated Transport Hub in 2030. History Plans to build a bus interchange in Hougang North were first announced in Parliament in January 1992. Intended to connect Hougang with adjacent new towns and the Central Area, the bus interchange was built in response to requests made by the Member of Parliament for the area to improve bus services. NTUC FairPrice is the largest supermarket chain in Singapore. The company is a co-operative of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). HDB Hub
HDB Hub is the headquarters of the Housing and Development Board. Is is located on Lorong 6 Toa Payoh in Toa Payoh, Singapore next to Toa Payoh MRT station. History The HDB Hub opened on 10 June 2002 as the headquarters of the Housing and Development Board, with all public service counters in the board's former headquarters in Bukit Merah being closed on 8 June. The building cost $380 million to complete. A showroom, named Habitat Forum, was launched in the hub on 24 October 2002. The building is connected to the Toa Payoh Bus Interchange.
