The Hotel Utah, is a historic mixed-use building known as a saloon bar, live music venue, and residential hotel, built in 1908 and located in the South of Market neighborhood of San Francisco, California. It is known for its diverse open mic nights, which have historically attracted some people who have later become famous. It is also known as The Utah Inn, The Hotel Utah Saloon, and simply The Utah. The Hotel Utah has been listed as a San Francisco Designated Landmark since November 2, 2018. Building history The Hotel Utah is located at 500–504 4th Street, at Bryant Street in San Francisco, California. It was built in 1908 as a saloon and hotel. The interior of the saloon is fairly small, which makes for an intimate performance and music venue. Geographer (band)
Geographer is an American synth-pop/indie rock band founded in 2007 by Mike Deni in San Francisco, California, United States. Deni has described his sound as being "soulful music from outer space"; using analog, electronic and acoustic elements to craft dense layers and unique sound textures. As Geographer, Deni has released multiple albums, including ''Innocent Ghosts'' in 2008, ''Myth'' in 2012, and ''Ghost Modern'' in 2015; along with two EPs, ''Animal Shapes'' in 2010, ''Endless Motion'' in 2015; and a number of 7-inch singles including, "Kites" in 2010. The Loud Family
The Loud Family was a San Francisco-based power pop band formed in 1991 by songwriter and guitarist Scott Miller, who previously led the 1980s band Game Theory. The Union Trade is an American Indie rock band formed in San Francisco, California, in 2006. Toychestra
Toychestra is an all-women experimental music group from Oakland, California that plays toys. They use toy musical instruments and other noise-making toys to perform their own compositions as well as interpretations of works by other artists, from Dvořák to Black Flag. Toychestra have performed at several venues in the San Francisco Bay Area and have toured Europe three times. MIGGS is an American pop/rock band formed in 2001 in San Francisco, California, United States, by Don Miggs (vocals/guitar). Michael Lombardo (bass/vocals) joined in 2005, Walker Adams (drums/vocals) joined in 2011 and John Luzzi (guitar/vocals) joined in 2012.
