Hotel Ukraine ( ua, Готель Україна), also referred to as Hotel Ukrayina, is a four-star hotel located in central Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. It was built in 1961 as the Hotel "Moscow" in a location which originally was occupied by Kyiv's first skyscraper, the Ginzburg House. The construction of the hotel finished the architectural ensemble of Kyiv's main street – the Khreshchatyk – which formed the post-war reconstruction of central Kyiv. The hotel is state-owned and belongs to the State Management of Affairs (Ukraine), State Management of Affairs. Location history The area of the location where the modern building sits is significant to the history of Kyiv and its geography. Historically, when Kyiv still had military fortification walls surrounding the city which ran along the modern Khreschatyk street and in the area of the Pechersk, Kyiv, Pechersk Gate, now located in today's Maidan Nezalezhnosti square. Khrennikov House
The Khrennikov House is a four-floor building in Dnipro (formerly Yekaterinoslav), one of the best examples of the Art Nouveau architecture in the city. It is located at the corner of Dmytra Yavornytskoho Avenue and Korolenko Street and currently houses Grand Hotel Ukraina. History The house was completed in 1913. The estate owner and engineer Vladimir Khrennikov hired a young architect Pyotr Fetisov to develop the project. Another architect, Lyudomir-Flavian Khoynovsky, also participated. The idea to built a house in a traditional Ukrainian style belonged to a historian Dmytro Yavornytsky, who lived in Yekaterinoslav and knew Khrennikov. Vladimir Khrennikov was the son of merchant Nikolay Khrennikov and Lyubov Belyavskaya, a daughter of merchant Prokofy Belyavsky, who on two occasions was elected the mayor of Yekaterinoslav.
