Hotel Silence (film)
''Hotel Silence'' (french: Hôtel Silence) is a Canadian-Swiss drama film, directed by Léa Pool and released in 2024. Adapted from Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir's 2016 novel ''Hotel Silence (Ör)'', the film stars Sébastien Ricard as Jean, a depressed man who travels to a war-torn country with the intent of ending his life there, but who finds new perspective on his life when he becomes involved in the country's efforts to rebuild. The cast also includes Lorena Handschin, Jules Porier, Irène Jacob, Louise Turcot and Paul Ahmarani Paul Ahmarani (born 1972) is a Canadian actor. Léa Pool
Léa Pool C.M. (born 8 September 1950) is a Swiss-Canadian filmmaker who taught film at the Université du Québec à Montréal. She has directed several documentaries and feature films, many of which have won significant awards including the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury, and she was the first woman to win the prize for Best Film at the Quebec Cinema Awards. Pool's films often opposed stereotypes and refused to focus on heterosexual relations, preferring individuality. Early life Pool was born in Soglio, Switzerland in 1950, and raised in Lausanne. Her father was Jewish and a Holocaust survivor from Poland; her mother's family was Christian of Swiss descent and she chose to use her mother's last name. Paul Ahmarani (born 1972) is a Canadian actor. Both his parents have a teaching background; one is from Cacouna, Quebec, Cacouna, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Quebec and the other from the Mediterranean coast. She married Stéphane Venne and managed the rock band Offenbach in 1972.
