Hot Shot (Cliff Richard Song)
"Hot Shot" is a song performed by Cliff Richard and released as a single in October 1979. Written by Terry Britten and B. A. Robertson, it was the second single lifted from Richard's 1979 album '' Rock 'n' Roll Juvenile''. It reached no. 46 in the UK Singles Chart. Release "Hot Shot" was released as the follow-up single to the international hit " We Don't Talk Anymore". However, it failed to repeat its success, failing to make the top 40 in the UK, peaking at number 46 and spending a total of five weeks in the top 75. It did, however, perform better in Ireland, peaking at number 27. For the compilation album ''My Kinda Life – A Selection of 14 Great Songs 1992 Version'', new instrumentation, recorded in April 1992, was added to an alternative take of the original song. Sir Cliff Richard (born Harry Rodger Webb; 14 October 1940) is an Indian-born British musican, singer, producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist who holds both British and Barbadian citizenship. He has total sales of over 21.5 million singles in the United Kingdom and is the third-top-selling artist in UK Singles Chart history, behind the Beatles and Elvis Presley. Tristan Frederick Allan Fry (born 25 October 1946, London) is a British drummer and percussionist. Career Fry began his career by joining the London Philharmonic Orchestra as a timpanist at the age of 17. He was a founder member of a number of ensembles, including the Nash, Fires of London and the London Sinfonietta. He also worked as a session musician with various pop and rock artists such as The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Olivia Newton-John, John Martyn, Elton John, Nick Drake, and David Essex, among others. Fry was percussionist on the Beatles' " A Day In The Life", contributing timpani to the song's two orchestral climaxes. Daryl Hall and John Oates, commonly known as Hall & Oates, are an American pop rock duo formed in Philadelphia in 1970. Daryl Hall is generally the lead vocalist; John Oates primarily plays electric guitar and provides backing vocals. The two write most of the songs they perform, separately or in collaboration. They achieved their greatest fame from the mid-1970s to the late-1980s with a fusion of rock and roll, soul music and rhythm and blues. Clout was, originally, an all-female South African rock music, rock musical ensemble, group formed in Johannesburg in 1977, best known for their hit single, "Substitute (The Righteous Brothers song), Substitute". Later in their career, the group included some male musicians, who had played as session musicians on the recording. Career Clout's first and biggest hit, "Substitute", was a new arrangement of a The Righteous Brothers, Righteous Brothers song, composed by Willie Wilson. The Venue (Victoria Street, London)
The Venue was a live music club at 160–162 Victoria Street, London, England, owned by Virgin Records. It opened its doors on 1 November 1978 and operated until 1984. The first act to play there was Graham Parker and The Rumour, followed by the last live performances by Alex Harvey before his death. Todd Rundgren played some dates there just before Christmas in 1978, as part of the tour to back up the ''Back to the Bars'' album; released for the Christmas market, at the time. Two shows were sometimes played per night, and the ambience was akin to a nightclub, where audience members sat at tables and could have drinks and meals while listening to the acts. It was also popular for use by record companies showcasing new signings to the music media. To Be Or Not To Be (BA Robertson Song)
"To Be or Not to Be" is a song by Scottish musician BA Robertson, released in May 1980 as the fifth and final single from his debut album ''Initial Success''. It became his third Top-Ten hit in the UK, peaking at number 9 on the Singles Chart. In the UK and some other countries, the single was released with two B-sides "Language of Love" and " Hot Shot". Whereas, elsewhere, such as Germany, "Language of Love" was the only B-side. The B-side tracks were recorded live at The Venue in London on 11 April 1980. The single did not appear on ''Top of the Pops'', which was out of production during the summer of 1980 because of a strike by the Musician's Union. Juicy Lucy (band)
Juicy Lucy was a British blues rock band officially formed on 1 October 1969. After the demise of The Misunderstood, Juicy Lucy was formed by steel guitarist Glenn Ross Campbell, and prolific Blackburn saxophonist Chris Mercer. The group later recruited vocalist Ray Owen, guitarist Neil Hubbard, bassist Keith Ellis, and drummer Pete Dobson. The band name was inspired by a character in '' The Virgin Soldiers'' (1966) by Leslie Thomas. Melvyn Desmond Collins (born 5 September 1947, Isle of Man) is a British saxophonist, flautist and session musician. Collins has played in several progressive rock groups, having been a member of King Crimson on two occasions (the first from 1970 to 1972 and the second from 2013 to the present day) and having played with Camel, the Alan Parsons Project, Roger Waters and Chris Squire.
