Hot Country Nights
''Hot Country Nights'' is an American television variety show featuring country music and stand-up comedy. It aired on NBC from November 1991 to March 1992. History and content Dick Clark and Gene Weed came up with the show's concept after noticing the contemporary success of country music in the mainstream at the beginning of the 1990s. Weed also served as the show's producer and director. Each episode of ''Hot Country Nights'' featured performances by country music singers, with an attempt to focus equally on up-and-coming, existing, and veteran acts. The debut episode on November 24, 1991 featured performances by K. T. Oslin, Alabama, Clint Black, Doug Stone, and Pam Tillis. Debuting in November 1991, the show faltered in the ratings against ''Murder, She Wrote'', ''America's Funniest Home Videos'', and ''In Living Color''. Variety show, also known as variety arts or variety entertainment, is entertainment made up of a variety of acts including musical theatre, musical performances, sketch comedy, magic (illusion), magic, acrobatics, juggling, and ventriloquism. It is normally introduced by a Master of Ceremonies, compère (master of ceremonies) or Television presenter, host. The variety format made its way from the Victorian era stage in Britain and America to radio and then television. Variety shows were a staple of English language television from the late 1940s into the 1980s. ''America's Funniest Home Videos'', also called ''America's Funniest Videos'' (abbreviated as ''AFV''), is an American video clip television series on American Broadcasting Company, ABC, based on the Japanese variety show ''Kato-chan Ken-chan Gokigen TV, Fun TV with Kato-chan and Ken-chan''. The show features humorous homemade videos that are submitted by viewers. The most common videos feature unintentional physical comedy, pets or children and some staged practical joke, pranks. ''Mann & Machine'' is an American science fiction/ police drama television series that aired for nine episodes on NBC from April 5 to July 14, 1992. Synopsis Created by Dick Wolf and Robert De Laurentis, the series starred Yancy Butler as Sgt. Eve Edison, a beautiful police officer who is also a sophisticated gynoid capable of learning and emotion. She is partnered with Det. Bobby Mann ( David Andrews), a human officer who disdains robots. ''In Living Color'' is an American sketch comedy television series that originally ran on Fox from April 15, 1990 to May 19, 1994. Keenen Ivory Wayans created, wrote and starred in the program. The show was produced by Ivory Way Productions in association with 20th Television and was taped at stage 7 at the Fox Television Center on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California. The title of the series was inspired by the NBC announcement of broadcasts being presented "in living color" during the 1960s, prior to mainstream color television. Pamela Yvonne Tillis (born July 24, 1957) is an American country music singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. She is the daughter of country music singer Mel Tillis and ex-wife of songwriter Bob DiPiero. Tillis recorded unsuccessful pop material for Elektra and Warner Records in the 1980s before shifting to country music.
