Hossain Toufique Imam
Hossain Toufique Imam (15 January 1939 – 4 March 2021) was a Bangladesh Awami League politician and political advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina. His rank was equivalent to a cabinet minister. Early life Imam was born on 15 January 1939. He completed his undergraduate in economics from Rajshahi University and graduate degree in economics from Dhaka University. He completed his post graduate from London School of Economics in development administration. Career Imam served as the cabinet secretary in the Mujibnagar government. He was the political advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. He blamed the Inter Service Intelligence for facilitating the July 2016 Dhaka attack. Personal life Imam's son, Tanveer Imam, was elected to Parliament from Sirajganj-4 as a candidate of the Bangladesh Awami League in January 2014. Bengal Presidency
The Bengal Presidency, officially the Presidency of Fort William and later Bengal Province, was a subdivision of the British Empire in India. At the height of its territorial jurisdiction, it covered large parts of what is now South Asia and Southeast Asia. Bengal proper covered the ethno-linguistic region of Bengal (present-day Bangladesh and the Indian state of West Bengal). Calcutta, the city which grew around Fort William, was the capital of the Bengal Presidency. The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI; ur, , bayn khadamatiy mukhabarati) is the premier intelligence agency of Pakistan. July 2016 Dhaka Attack
On the night of 1 July 2016, at 21:20 local time, five militants took hostages and opened fire on the Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan Thana. The assailants entered the bakery with crude bombs, machetes, pistols, and took several dozen hostages (foreigners and locals). In the immediate response, while Dhaka Metropolitan Police tried to regain control of the bakery, two police officers were shot dead by the assailants. 29 people were killed, including 20 hostages (17 foreigners and 3 locals), two police officers, five gunmen, and two bakery staff. Mujibnagar Government
The Provisional Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, popularly known as the Mujibnagar Government, was established following the declaration of independence of East Pakistan as Bangladesh on 10 April 1971.
