Horta (Barcelona Metro)
Horta () is a station in the Barcelona metro network, served by L5, located under carrer de Lisboa, in the Horta-Guinardó district of Barcelona. It was opened in 1967, when an extension of the line into the neighbourhood of the same name from Vilapicina was opened. The partially curved island-platform station has a ticket hall at either end, one with two accesses, the other with one. Horta was the terminus before the line was extended in July 2010 towards Vall d'Hebron, meeting L3. Barcelona Metro
The Barcelona Metro (Catalan and Spanish: ) is an extensive network of rapid transit electrified railway lines that run mostly underground in central Barcelona and into the city's suburbs. It is part of the larger public transport system of Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, Spain, with unified fares under the (ATM) scheme. As of 2014, the network is operated by two separate companies: (TMB) and (FGC). It is made up of 12 lines, combining the lines owned by the two companies. Two lines, L9 and L10, are being built at present, with both lines having different sections of each opened between 2009 and 2018. They are due to be fully completed in 2026. Horta-Guinardó () is the name of one of the districts of Barcelona, located in its North-Eastern corner. It is named after two very heterogeneous areas of the city, Horta and el Guinardó, which together cover a large area of 11.92 km², amounting to 11.9% of the total area of the city. A former municipality that eventually became part of the city in the late 19th century, it is bordered by five out of ten districts of Barcelona (Gràcia, Nou Barris, Eixample, Sant Andreu and Sant Martí), and by two other municipalities of the metropolitan area ( Sant Cugat and Cerdanyola del Vallès). Island-platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Vall d'Hebron , Sant Genis is a Barcelona Metro station, in the Horta-Guinardó district of Barcelona, and named after the nearby Vall d'Hebron neighbourhood. The station is served by line L3 and is the northern terminus of line L5.
