Alan or Allan Horsfall (5 August 1926 – 24 May 2007) was an English professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s and 1950s. He played at club level for Leeds Rhinos, Leeds and Castleford Tigers, Castleford (List of Castleford Tigers players, Heritage No. 377), as a , i.e. number 8 or 10, during the era of contested Scrum (rugby)#Rugby league, scrums. Horsfall Stadium
Horsfall Stadium is a sports stadium just off Halifax Road in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, south-west of the city centre. It is the home of Bradford (Park Avenue) A.F.C. It was originally built as a running track in 1931, and was upgraded for football when Bradford (Park Avenue) moved to the stadium in 1994. The track was upgraded to a synthetic surface at the same time. In 2007, a number of improvements were made to the ground, including a new directors' and sponsors' room, a meeting room for the players and management, a new medical room, kit room and toilets. In addition, fully monitored CCTV has been installed to protect the facility and prevent vandalism. The main stand was also refurbished with seats, 1,800 of them coming from Lord's Cricket Ground. Horsfall Family
The Horsfall family was a family notable in Liverpool, UK, especially as traders at the heart of British trade with Africa after 1807, and as religious benefactors whose churches are among the most important religious buildings in the city. Charles Horsfall Charles Horsfall (1776-1846) was born in Yorkshire and earned his fortune as a merchant and slave-holder in Jamaica before returning to England around 1803 and settling in Everton near Liverpool. He founded Charles Horsfall and Sons, which was Britain's largest palm oil importer on several occasions between 1835 and 1850. In the late 1830s, he handed control over to his eldest son, Thomas. He was mayor of Liverpool in 1832. He subscribed to the fund to build St George's Church, Everton. On his death, his 13 children built Christ Church, Great Homer Street, Everton in his memory. Thomas Berry Horsfall (20 August 1805 – 22 December 1878) was a Conservative Party politician in England. He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for over 15 years, and was Lord Mayor of Liverpool from 1847 to 1848. Life Horsfall was born in Liverpool to Dorothy Hall Berry (1784–1846) and Charles Horsfall (1776–1846), a former Mayor of Liverpool. He became a magistrate for Lancashire, and also Mayor of Liverpool in 1847 and 1848. In 1848 he was the Head of the Liverpool Architectural and Archaeological Society. Robert Bruce Horsfall (October 21, 1869 – March 24, 1948) was an American wildlife illustrator. His paintings were included in several works from the early 20th century, including Frank M. Chapman's ''Warblers of North America''. Biography Horsfall was born in Clinton, Iowa in 1869 to John Tomlin and Anne Buttersby Horsfall. He studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy and later at art schools in Munich and Paris. He married Carra Elisabeth Hunting in 1906 and had two sons (one adopted).
